The Sixers are so structurally flawed that it doesn’t matter if Embiid and Paul George come back and play tomorrow and the team wins a few games. This is not a NBA title contending team. Embiid is not a winning player as a centerpiece of a team. Paul George is not a winning player as a centerpiece of a team. Both have proven this year-after-year on national TV for everyone to see. Neither guy will likely play at 100% for the rest of their NBA careers - and certainly not by playoff time. Why are we pretending the foundational players on which this roster is built is anything but a mess? Pure folly. We should have traded Embiid this past offseason (or the offseason before) and cashed-in on a huge volume of future picks and young players in return. And then let some other team itching for a new stadium sign over-the-hill Paul George. In three years we could have a team like OKC has now. Instead, in three years this Sixers team will be trash and sending its valuable #1 picks to a whole bunch of other teams. We’re so screwed.
