Our band director was influenced by the Troopers in 1975 we became the first full time drum corps style high school band in Indiana we opened with that last theme. Swept State class c championship and Kentucky’s Governor Cup. I still have my tuba part memorized.

One of my favorite Junior drum and bugle Corps. First time I saw them in person was when I first came East. I was with, Steve buglino, we will both in the Floyd Bennett golden eagles in the 60s and then in the Long Island sunrises I was a member from 64 through 68. But will you witness the Troopers for the first time could not believe what we were looking at they were outrageous I was so impressed. I have the recording of, the Troopers are coming, narrated by Walter Brennan. I played frequently . So many great crumble cores went by the wayside in my opinion because of DCI, pricing most of them out of business. And never encouraging kids when they age out to join a senior, drum and bugle c o r p s . They have turned the activity into a marching band competition superimposed on a three-ring circus. Yes I am old school . We no longer have real, drum and bugle c o r p s. May they all rest in peace😂😂😮😮❤❤. Today is, November 7th 2024

Real Drum Corps. Wow what a fantastic show. Loved the dynamics of the opener, the 3 against 4 feature in the ballad, the juggling snares in the percussion feature with the kazoo accompaniment. I think this is about the maximum amount of props and gags that should be allowed in drum corps to keep it entertaining but still down to earth. I appreciate the uniforms on all of the musicians, but modest costumes and props. No need for amplifiers and electronics for that wall of sound coming out of that horn line! Has to be the best 12th place show in history.

The color guard is the most in sync I have ever seen. Usually I see tons of phasing issues with rifle or flag tosses where several are late and they don’t happen together, they’re out of step, and the visuals are unevenly performed. This, however, is incredibly polished. Bravo!

At 5:47, the corps is playing two completely different time signatures at the same time! If you've marched in drum corps, you know how incredibly difficult that is. It's not been done that often, because of the high difficulty level. I believe that The Cadets did it in 1989, as well, for the Les Mis show. ( My favorite cadets show of all time. )

I was there as a 16 yr old spectator, the next year I was marching with the phantom regiment. It was so cool to stand at the retreat and look at where I sat the previous year!!! I still get goose bumps thinking about it.

The bongos on the snares contributed to that effect but the tenor line was made of marine pearl Ludwig SET drums and were MASSIVELY heavy! My buddy in the line let me try em on and they must have weighed close to 50 pounds - we had some dudes in that line that could have been NFL tight ends or guards.... Good times.... Fun fact, the "scoops" on the bongos were actually HVAC ducting... Drum corps was much more organic in those days....

@@scotttesar7156 using the ducting and such....back when we would get creative using anything we could get our hands on. I didn't march until the 90's and we were still doing it then. Then along came the 2010's and we have what we have now.

And not just the usual "quads" but marine-pearl tenor & floor toms that were custom-configured and weighed A TON - I marched marimba but my buddy marched quads and I tried them on... at least 40 pounds... the tenor line were BEASTS (players and athletes) Also notice the custom-spock-bongos that the snares were carrying (along with duct-work "scoops") - it was an honor to march with this line.... "Won and Done"
