I tested Google Maps on a new GrapheneOS install and was able to get them working from Wifi. I needed to make the changes below: - Enable Location Permission for Google Maps - Enable Location, and Nearby Devices permission to Google Play Services apps - We go Settings > Location > Location Services and enable "WiFi Scanning" and "Bluetooth Scanning" - We go into Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play: - uncheck "Reroute Location Requests to the OS" - Google Location Accuracy > Enable Improved Location Accuracy You may not need all of those for location and Google Maps (or other apps that relay on location permission) to work seamlessly but the above should be a good guidance. And I didn't want to spend even more hours exploring the combinatorics of the change shown above. It's interesting both how many things you have to enable as well as the many ways in which Google (and mobile phones in general) use to get your location .

I just bought a Pixel 9 and installed the latest Graphene OS on it a couple of days ago and I noticed the battery drain is SO fast. Like even faster than my iPhone 12 which I bought four years ago! Is anybody experiencing the same thing? For starters, my settings are: - Location services constantly off unless I absolutely need it. - Bluetooth constantly off unless I absolutely need it. - I use dark theme. - Screen brightness always between 40% - 50%. - I went through each of my apps in settings and turned off background activity (except for system apps). - I rarely use VPN, only on special circumstances.

@wasabikemosabe17738 күн бұрын
@@rosszeiger So I've been reading through the Graphene OS Discord and I found one poster who was having the same problem as me. He said it might be that the battery has to recalibrate in order to increase the battery life. Which means charging it to 100% then leaving it charging for another 2 - 3 hours. Then he said unplug it and drain the battery all the way down to 0%. Then charge the battery up again to 100% and that should fix the problem. I started charging and left it for like 4 hours then I unplugged it. Right now I'm discharging the phone and so far I think its working because I've been playing KZbin videos for two straight hours now from 100% and it got down to 95%. I'm hoping this works, otherwise I'm gonna have to uninstall Graphene OS and use stock firmware because I can't deal with this fast battery drain.

This is actually interesting dilemma because while I think Graphene is amazing, to get it to work at some useful level, you need to tie your leg to Google Playstore whether you like it or not. Unless Apple changes things, it seems like combination of Iphone with something like privately hosted Nextcloud is far superior while delivering equivalent levels of privacy. Obviously, every time your data are being stewarded by someone else, there's no guarantee but for normal users, I think that's prefectly reasonable, secure, privacy oriented option.

Your videos about scheduling tools and video-call apps always leave out the elephant in the room which is Microsoft Teams. From my experience there is almost no business that doesn't know Teams and from my experience maybe 2-3% don't use teams at all. Many people will comment here (Mexicans in particular) whether they like AMLO/Sheinbaum/4T or not. Tren Maya is a huge project for the Yucatan Peninsula but I think you'll get a better experience if you travel from Cancun to Merida or Campeche which are the routes that are more stablished. That part of the Tulum southbound route is so empty because when you got the train there were no routes to Bacalar or Chetumal. And also that part (from Tulum to the Tulum Airport) is the most controversial part of the train because they had to make some structures, viaducts and bridges in order to affect the least the cenotes that are around that area.

Tren maya is a huge mess, a white elephant operating with a huge loss receiving 11 thousand 862 million pesos to operate and generating only 134 million pesos of profit. (98.9% subsidized, 1.1% of revenue), sadly almost all stations are outside the city centers and locals don't want to use it because of long distance to arrive to the stations, slow train and then arriving to the destination outside the city centre and taking a shuttle bus or taxi to the main zone of interest.

It's supposed to be a relaxing touristy experience.... The reason it's going so slow it because the rails are so new and they need time to settle. You took the least prepared part of the loop and you give a super critical review, like are you for reals? "OMG, the workers are filming us, we might fall into a cenote!!!" Haha If you are serious about documenting Tren Maya then take the Palenque to Campeche to Merida to Cancun stretch before you talk so much smack. That portion of the loop has been running for one year and is fully functional. Most of the rails were laid next to the freeway so as to minimize deforestation, but for the deforestation that did happen a lot of trees were planted in other parts of the country. Etc....

I will say, no part of the line is high speed. A high speed line is 200kmh, the line is built for a maximum of 160kmh, it's misleading to present the line as a high speed line. So they've not been constructing a high speed rail system but rather a new long distance rail system. Interesting to get your perspective though. You may enjoy styling videos like notjustbikes, or RM transit they both (when they can) use real life vlogs from a service, and provide a very factual, well researched points to create a fun mix between a vlog and documentary style video. Hope this feedback helps :)

You took a newly opened line, because the Palenque-Cancun section the train reaches 160 km/h, however, the Tulum-Tulum Airport section is recent, therefore it does not exceed 70 km/h, the stations are effectively not in the center of the city, however, buses were already requested to create a feeding system to the stations, a matter of time, since they are the most recent stations, let’s put other examples, Mérida created an Ie-Tram line to the train stations, Campeche is building a Light Rail to connect the station with the center, among many more examples, The stations were built outside the cities so that the train is completely confined and there are no accidents, but each city must develop its food system
