At this point im finding fault in everything house of the dragon does or will attempt to do to be already dissapointing.. i am so doubtful in their ability to tell a legitimate enjoyable story without contradictions or mimimizations i imagine them as to change aegon's character and his INTELLIGENCE.. THEY ALREADY HAVE SUCCEDED IN THIS AND SAME IN DAEMON, AEMOND, RHAENYRA, ALICENTS, VISERYS INTELLIGENCE AND MOTIVATIONS ARE TWISTED AND MINIMIZED THEIR REASONINGS AREN'T MOVEABLE.. THEY DOUBT AND HAVE BACKWARDS EMOTIONS tell us war is bad or that they are ready for it but in each character they tell us how awful war is or will be but there has only been 1st dragon battle honestly story is backwards and i have no faith in it.. they will change the ending as they have changed the begining, nd middle and things that MAKES SENSE IN BETWEEN hbo just os NOT ADAPTING Fire and Blood..

I think this is a situation like the dagger where there really isn't a good answer at least at this point. I really don't see littlefinger hiring jaqen for this. He says you could hire an army of common assassins for half the price. Plus Jeffrey's mind was made up before going to the Sept of Baelor so littlefinger would have been pretty confident in the outcome. Plus I dunno if there's enough time for littlefinger to send an agent to bravos hire jaqen, sail back, and get in the cells in time for that. To me it seems like he was there for something else. It also seems like his plan changed after news of dragons and magic came back into the world otherwise there would be no need for books on dragons, magic, and glass candles. It's a real head scratcher

Whatever the reason why Jaquen was in Kings Landing, it wasn't in the north. It was clearly irrelevant north of Harrenhall, since that's when he went separate ways from Arya and Gendry. It was to the west or south

Okay, so Edmure basically did in riverrun what jon snow did on the wall. He let the small folk seek protection inside the walls of a castle because he didn't want them to starve and be the target of raging. But because we are introduced to this by catelyn who views her brother as a softhearted fool we don't give him credit for it. The thing with Robb's plan is that it came across as an ad hoc sceam by the blackfish and Robb, like something improvised. They could have informed edmure otherwise. But here is the problem, the actual moment when stannis is going to attack kinglanding wasn't certain. Tyrion took preparation, but there wasn't any certainty when and if stannis is going to attack. Edmure attacking tywin actually insured that robb is not cut off of supplies from riverrun. The news that stannis attaced kinglanding came after or while edmure threw tywin back. It might have been that he succeeded this only because tywin got news about what is happening in Kingslanding and retreated willingly. Maybe he also got news from little finger that the Tyrells are going to back them. Because edmure had a very little amount of men in order to throw a whole army back that effortless. I would say that edmure is not stupid. He cared for his people. Chance and luck went against him.

I’m almost sure Jaquan was there to kill Ned. Either he was planted in the Black cells or he purposely got caught committing a crime to get put in there. As to who hired him I’d say Cersi or Tywin (or Cersi under Tywins orders). The deal Cersi made with Ned is he confesses and gets sent to the Nights Watch. This gets Ned out of the way without causing war in the north. Tywin is one of the few men in Westeros who could afford to hire a Faceless man and he could have had his lackey Pycelle plant Jacquen in the black cells for the Nights Watch to recruit. I think Tywin would have wanted Ned dead on the road to the Wall because once Ned got to the North he would be untouchable. Ned could have claimed he made the deal under duress (which was true) to save his daughters and remain lord of Winterfell and maybe declare northern independence which would be a huge problem for the Crown. And even if Ned went to the Wall he’d probably replace Mormont as lord commander and could still be a problem to the Lannisters. So I think Tywin hired Jacquen to kill Ned and make it look like an accident so it wouldn’t trigger a war like Ned’s execution did.

Littlefinger couldn’t let Ned leave Kings Landing alive. If Ned makes it north he can tell Rob Catelyn or anyone that Littlefinger betrayed him. Then that can lead people to uncovering his schemes. Littlefinger couldn’t rely on Joffrey to execute Ned so paying with stolen crown money was his back up plan. I hope GRRM reveals why Jaqen was in the black cells & what his mission was

I suspect that one of the requirements to be a faceless man is to be an skinchanger, the test where they blind Arya is like it's designed to awake his third skinchanger eye, another prove is how Jaken Ha'hagar kill this man in Harrenhal with his own dog. Maybe the magic to change faces can only be performed by a skinchanger, maybe skinchanhing is not exclusive to the first man, in Essos we have proves of the existence of a similar kind of magic: dragon binding

I don’t think that Blood and Fire or Dunk novellas will cause much of a delay for Dream of Spring. First he has to actually finish Winds, and if Winds can make the story progress that it needs to make then Dream should be an easier book to write as everyone will be locked into a specific path towards the end game - if he doesn’t move the story far enough in Winds then Dream may not ever come regardless of Blood and Fire or Dunk novellas. Blood and Fire is a history book that does not constain all of the carefully constructed prose and foreshadowing and character development etc - it’s something he turns out quickly and easily. Dunk and Egg novellas are more like the real novels in the quality of the writing but they are much shorter. More importantly the novellas focus on a much much much smaller cast of characters then Ice and Fire so it is easier to write (though not as easy as blood and fire). Assuming Winds does get finished sometime within the next 24 months or less, I see him immediately churning out Blood and Fire while doing media blitz for Winds. Then I see him hammering through the She Wolves of Winterfell. Then after that I would bet he starts Dream but alternates between Dream and Dunk novellas - using Dunk novellas to help clear his mind and decompress whenever progress on Dream begins to stall. This may result in another dunk novella or two releasing after She Wolves but no more than 3 total before Dream as Dream would still be the main goal after Blood and Fire and She Wolves. That’s just my guess though and it depends on Winds coming out soon and actually setting things up for the end game - if it isn’t out with the next 24 months or if it doesn’t have characters in place for the end game then I do not believe this series will ever be finished.

About Ned and never thinking about Ashara. In black cells Ned thinks about Cat: "The thought of Cat was as painful as a bed of nettles. He wondered where she was, what she was doing. He wondered whether he would ever see her again." Plus every time Jon's mother or Ashara is mentioned, Ned gets angry. What if Eddard was so ashamed of what he had to do (separate her from her child) that he can't even stomach thinking about her, because it's just too painful.

This is not true Cersei mentions Ashara to Ned and he is not angry at all he only gets emotional when thinking about Lyanna. Also, the fact that Ned is on death row and does not think of Ashara if what you say is true makes no sense. He basically made Ashara kill herself and Ned never thinks of her is a massive leap to claim. We quite literally only have two references of Ned reacting to Ashara being specifically named and has different reactions towards both, but the most recent he is completely unbothered by Cersei basically saying he had sex with Ashara took her child and left her.

My favorite chapter of ADWD is the prologue. It became that on my first reread. The prologue perfectly sets the tone for the whole book and it really struck me on a re-read that the very beginning of the book is (in my opinion, im convinced of this) foreshadowing Jons final chapter at the end of the book. Also the end of the prologue with the wight was just like a cherry on top of the whole thing.

@@San_Vito That's what I'm trying to say. If GRRM dies tomorrow (God forbid) then he will be remembered for an unfinished book series and a TV adaptation that had a rushed and poor ending. The normies don't care because "he doesn't owe us anything". While true, it betrays the fact that his literary legacy will be tarnished. He will forever be remembered as a tale of what happens when ambitious people succumb to their own procrastination. Too preoccupied with notoriety to achieve cement something that will outlive you. It's not a question of "to whom is his work owed". It is a question of "does GRRM care enough to finish a series that effectively provides him the level of fame that he has". I doubt that fame will last beyond a few years posthumously. I can't compare him to Tolkien because Tolkien actually finished his book series AND history.

My theory is that since the Dance, the Starks have always looked for an opportunity to throw off the Targaryen yoke and become Kings in the North again, and this was Rickard's ultimate goal. I like to think of Rickard as the Stark equivalent of Tywin Lannister: ambitious, playing the long game, and using his children as pawns. He wasn't "manipulated" by his maester, instead he allied with the Citadel because they share an important enemy: the Targaryens. Rickard realized Aerys was an impopular and weak king, and this was his chance to finally achieve his family's ambitions. So he made sure to ally himself with the lords Aerys would need to crush a possible rebellion: the Tullys, the Arryns and the Baratheons. With three of the seven kingdoms allied with Rickard, Aerys would be hard pressed to find houses willing to march to the frigid North with him. That's also why he didn't try to ally himself with the Targaryens by proposing a Rhaegar/Lyanna marriage, because for his plans to work a conflict with the Targaryens was inevitable, marriage alliance or not. Why he didn't propose a Ned/Cersei marriage to Tywin (as far as we know) is less clear, but perhaps he figured that Tywin was both the smartest and most powerful ally of Aerys at that time, and therefore couldn't be trusted to support him against Aerys. And the funny thing is that although Rickard's own schemes didn't work out, the alliances he created would allow his grandson to declare himself King in the North with allies in the South.

I think Tywin wouldn't accept a marriage to a second son for Cercei as Tywin knew she was worth more than that. The best Ned could've hoped for would be a a strong 2nd tier house like the Manderlys, Blackwoods, or Royces.

@@flavius5722 He might just have underestimated how mad Aerys was. Don't forget, he only met Aerys when Aerys was young, and his madness wasn't nearly as bad. @MaesterGreen
@MaesterGreen 3 күн бұрын
According to Lady Dustin she says Rickard must've had some Southern ambitions. Because he had Ned fostered by Jon Arryn, but prior to that, he was thinking of marrying Ned Stark to Lady Dustin herself and some other Northern Lord daughters. Per his Maester's advice he told Rickard he should try to marry his eldest son Brandon to Catelyn Tully. All of Lord Hosters son's died in infancy and probably most people thought Edmure wouldn't survive. But while Brandon was fostered in Barrowton (I think) he began an affair with Lady Dustin herself and claimed the two loved each other more than anything and Brandon never cared about Catelyn, which might be likely because he had never been south of the Neck by that time. So I wouldn't say Rickard cared about the Iron Throne BUT he saw an opportunity at another kingdom and tried to seize it. Tywin was giving away one free marriage and that was to Tyrion😂😂😂 Cersei was off limits BUT she was in King's Landing for years and NEVER seemingly made any impression on Rhaegar and when Jaime came after getting his Knighthood they're affair started back up again.
