In the mid 1980s, I used to stay here for weeks. Back then, it was not developed at all. Most of the island was uninhabited. There was no electricity, but it was my favorite place in the whole world. Closest place to paradise. I used to daydream about this island all year long. My late uncle, Father Tony Tolentino was the new parish priest and the island had no physical church. He was able to fund and build a nice chapel as well as acquire a generator before his term ended. Anyway, I would snorkel from morning to noon, then 3-6pm everyday. I used to see colorful corals bigger than tables (not the almost dead grey ones) and numerous colorful fish, octopus, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, sea spurts, eels, sea snakes at less than 5 feet deep and ankle deep during low tide. This island inspired me to earn a biology degree. I remember the midsize bancas from Batangas City where you get scared once you reach the Mindoro crossing, the tiny banca galloped like a rodeo horse and you could opt to sit on the roof while holding onto a rope while you are drenched by the waves. The other option was to stay inside the banca protected by tarp, but that made me dizzy, so I only did that once. AS you near the island, the crystal clear waters with multiple hues of green and blue would make you want to jump even before docking. And once, there was even a welcoming festivity for my uncle. I bought a delicious halo-halo for 1 peso and it had more fruit than ice (since there was no electricity, ice was precious). Water was also from a well, a manual one with a pail.. and it kinda tasted like seawater. Lots of adventures I had on this island that I was lucky to have been blessed.

Just like when the Chinese commie party killed almost all the Sparrows, the Sparrows weren't there to eat the locusts, so the locusts population boomed and ate all the grain, as a result 55 million people starved. Very sad. God created the world the way it was for a reason.

No to reclamation projects! The environmental impact will be irreversible. Stop this craziness of big businesses and laocal governments, peddling these ideas for job creation. They are pitting people vs the environment (the voiceless marine life). Please learn from what is happening here in Manila w/ the reclamation of Manila Bay. Hope people of Dumaguete will stand up against this un-Smart project.

"The chromatic aberration hypothesis proposes that instead of avoiding chromatic aberration, cephalopods enhance it using their peculiar off-axis pupil shapes. This enhancement allows them to detect color by monitoring image blurring as focus changes. Computer models show that this method of image detection is possible." - Google

Greetings! I hope this message finds you well. I came across your video and I found it really informative and well-made. I'm actually a student working on a school project, and I was wondering if I could use some footage from your video in my project. Of course, I would give full credit to your work and channel in my project. Please let me know if that would be okay with you. Thank you for considering my request, and keep up the great work on your channel!
