i'm a hearing student learning ASL and i really enjoyed this, i loved how in sync you were and i could totally feel the rhythm (which is something i find can be lackluster in spoken poetry)

As a deaf person living in a hearing world and trying to learn ASL at 40+ years old, I can truly relate to this video and encourage the attitude of positivity and teaching the hearing world about deaf culture as I learn it. BRAVO!

I hope this man/Def Familia realizes (I think he does) how much good this video has done for deaf people because of his honestly, love, sincerity, and intelligence. It has opened up a lot of communication that didn't exist before, and cleared up deaf issues that have not seen the light of day. I hope he continues because as a deaf person myself, I really appreciate it, and feel his love and gifts as a deaf person.

This was an awesome video! I'm feeling with you. My dad is in a wheelchair and his school never got railing for the stairs until he tripped and fractured his skull... Alot of people tend to be assholes towards people with disabilities and I hate that, and I love the people who understand how they chould help if needed. I really loved this video! Thank you so much for learning this! :-D

even though I'm not difficult, I'm hard of hearing sometimes. when I watch movies I try to remember to put the subtitles on so it's easier to follow then just watching. I have this costumer where I work that comes in quite a lot and since he's definitely he has a caretaker (?) (he also has the characteristics of down syndrome) that translates for him. because of him I'm trying to learn sign language so I can talk to him directly.

I'm currently in a asl club at my school and trying to learn, or get more involved in the asl culture.Watching this video was so amazing. It really puts things in perspective and makes me think.I want to be friends with the deaf kids at school but it's hard to communicate with only a few signs, plus reading lips is hard. You seem like such a nice guy and I would love to be friends with you (:

Thank you so much for this video. Those were hard stories to hear. I'm sorry to anyone who went through things like that. I have a mental disorder and have a background in psychology so I am involved in those cultures, but I'm just now truly tapping into physical disorder culture. It's truly breathtaking how many different ways there are to live life. I thank everyone who shares their stories. The more I learn about different types of people, the more I love everyone. I'll do my best to help everyone I can. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope you live in happiness.

In 2014 I was going to Vocational Rehab in NH for help finding a new type of job since I went from HoH to a big drop, deaf in one ear. I started getting calls for work but could no longer hear on the phone. Their suggestion.... Turn your phone volume way up and put it on speaker phone. Yeah wow, thanks a lot. (reminded me of your story) Thank you for sharing.

It is hard to read lips unless you have captions, I tried but didn't understand unless I read the captions first. I'm learning asl in school and hopefully I can communicate with deaf people even if it isn't that much

im a hearing person and theres this kid at my school that is hard of hearing, so im teaching myself sign language to be able to communicate with her since ive noticed her only friend seems to be her teacher. The Deaf community really needs to be learned about more so that people are more educated in the culture.
