@davidroddie3 ай бұрын
Hey 👋 yeah it’s the RSE20 it’s a great guitar for the money, I actually think I prefer it to the standard and pro models. Just no fuss and a lot of great tone and playability you wouldn’t ordinarily find in this price point. Full review coming soon 🎸

Not a fan of those things. They don't feel like or sound like an acoustic or an electric. I don't understand why anyone would ever need to use one of these.
@davidroddie5 ай бұрын
Hey :) yeah I think this might be one of those Marmite guitars 😂 I am really enjoying it, I think for my use case which is a guitar for writing and drafting out songs quickly it’s been really useful. With 10 gauge acoustic strings and a tweak to the action it feels great to me. I will link you a clip of a song I was tracking at the weekend, in that you can see how it does laying down a nice acoustic bed and some electric parts on top. For me it’s a great sketching tool, that being said, I totally get why you don’t like it. It’s not a replacement for an electric or an acoustic, but my argument is that maybe it’s just its own thing. I think Fender marketing it as this one guitar does it all might be the wrong approach, and instead they should focus on “this is a guitar that sounds like this” and let people decide if they like that or not :) Thanks for taking the time to comment and hopefully the next video I post will have a guitar you like, there’s some really nice guitars lined up. David :)

Yes, the guitar can handle everything. But in every aspect the sound of the acoustasonic can not compete with inexpensive originals for example a squier electric guitar or a fender dreadnought.
@davidroddie5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think it’s great as a songwriting tool, or for live use if you need to change between songs. But in terms of better than an electric or an acoustic, I agree with what you’re saying. It’s still nice though and I’ve found it very useful so far. Actually tracking some guides last weekend was great being able to quickly track acoustic and electric. I’ll add a link to that here so that you can check it out. I think with this, there’s always some compromise and ideally separate guitars would be best, but if you need something that can cover a range of sounds, this guitar does the job nicely. I think you need to look at this as a guitar in its own right and not something that replaces either electric or acoustic. Thanks for taking the time to comment and hopefully you’ll be able to catch my next video soon :)

Nice music, looked like a great little trip away for yourself and pretty peaceful. Would love to know where that little place was! I play guitar and you've inspired me to pick it up again and try and record something. Just need to find a basic setup to do so
@davidroddie6 ай бұрын
Hi Ross :) Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The place I booked was in Biggar, I found it on Airbnb. I think really anywhere you can get some time to yourself would work. Thats awesome you're getting back into playing, its well worth it. My advice would be, keep your setup simple. I've found the more gear I have in the writing stage, the more distracted I get :) Take it easy and all the best David :) P.s If you like guitars, maybe give my channel a wee sub, a lot more content coming soon 👍

Totally get what you mean, I thought the same, took me ages to an Acoustasonic. I got this MIM Player for £699 ($885 USD) so was a good price. I changed the strings, and honestly, I’ve been loving it, great for writing and just a nice instrument. I’ll have a full review soon, but give them a try :)

We are sick of it. Let's start a movement. Let's fight back. Media influencers should make it a point to stop reviewing subscriptions or urge their followers to not use subscriptions. The manufacturers will get the message. Most of us are struggling musicians. We all want to own our software
@davidroddie Жыл бұрын
I totally agree, I don’t like the subscription model especially after buying so many plugins from all these company’s. Glad Waves have stepped back on this, but is it enough? Will people avoid them now for new purchases? Hopefully this serves as a warning to other company’s that we’re planning the same move.

I own many plugins and bundles from waves...only at $12 for the Ultimate Bundle I would subscribe..otherwise I will continue not using waves
@davidroddie Жыл бұрын
Hey :) yeah I think the subscription will work for some, the issue was they removed people’s choice. For instance If you currently have their full plugin bundle and decide to only update it every 2-3 years then you could do that. But with the new model they proposed it meant you would only ever have access to updated plugins while you had a live subscription. It’s horses for courses I guess :) Just glad they have given users choice again.

Producers? It’s us mixing engineers that really taking the blow. Producers use instrument plugins more so. Waves is all mainly mixing based
@davidroddie Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess it effects music producers, mix engineers, songwriters and many others that rely on the software to differing degrees. All of these users have paid for and rightfully expect to be able to access their software and have support to from the company that created it. I strongly believe we should all contact Waves (maybe even an online petition) to suggest that they keep supporting existing perpetual license holders with a WUP. I don’t see any issue with that, closing the door on all their existing client base is a really odd approach.
