What carburetor cleaner do you recommend?

Superb advice...yes, prep time, yes respirator...2 cartridge with carbon filters...full face mask...and cover your body too, including hands. Tyvec suits with hoods and booties work well. You can use fans on low many feet away to push paint stink out of end of garage. Get cars out.

Hi, I have a 1992 virago xv1100 , after searching on the bike and research I don't believe it has a fuel switch off tap. I personally don't feel fully confident taking off the two carbs so will try your way. Fingers crossed!

So many vids of builds originating from $500ish USD bikes. On the west coast of the US, you will Not find a $500 candidate with a CLEAN Title easily, so doesn’t seem realistic. Unless a significant number of builds are based upon SALVAGE Title bikes, which I am Very reluctant to do. Am I way off base in this observation ? I’ve been looking for a fair bit, since I got this CR build “itch”. I’m looking at CX GL Hondas, XV Yamahas, perhaps some inline 4s, or V4 Hondas. I have experience with these platforms, and very familiar with their performance potential. Realizing that this vid is 4yrs old, the market and parts prices have changed a bit. $5500 seems to be your target audience. I don’t see many $5500 cafe builds in my market place actually Selling. Parts to thoroughly go through the drivelines are certainly more than a couple hundred, rebuilding or swapping higher performance suspensions is a grand pretty easily. Brake upgrades, electronics …. we’re pushing a few thousand, before even reaching cosmetics, gauges & controls. Even IF the platform started as a clean titled $700 bike, with the numbers above, plus paint, new rubber, etc, seems like you’re really putting in Free labor, with such a small margin …… What am I missing ? 🤔

Nice, vid. It strikes me how beautiful a petrol tank is a a piece of engineering but not for cleaning. In your vid you put all those nuts and bolts in but does your fuel tap have a filter on it inside the tank. I remove the tap first to see. Then I turn my tank upside down with the cap on and fill with 5% vinegar. I have found that impressive.

That number you just pointed to on the motor is your VIN number it’s the same on the neck of your motorcycle you, my dear are confused. Engine numbers are underneath the block next to the transmission.

You can use a 90 degree offset screwdriver to remove that 4th bowl bolt. I know that's not a common tool, and I do think maybee pulling the carbs will be required either way--I wish it were different- I wish this method worked:) TY for the video

Maybe its the air cooled that doesnt cool the engine enough to cause over heat in traffic and blows the gasket.

Harley Davidson has always leaked oil it's not a faulty gasket it's the poor craftsmanship the way it was designed.just think how much money Harley Davidson is making on repairing the same old story over and over. I own a cruiser Suzuki V-Twin most of the Japanese bikes are built solid and built to last. Keep the oil changed and you can get on it and go. I'm not putting it down to anyone that drives a harley. But I think Harley-Davidson has taken advantage of people and getting all the money out of them they can.

I just bought a victory that had been sitting. The person I bought it from said they would ride it at least once a month. I was riding it the other day and it started acting funny when I hit 3rd gear. It felt like I held in the clutch and a light came on. I think it was an engine with a symbol in it, but it was red. Then when I came to a stop the bike would try stalling so I'd give it gas. By the time I got home it stalled and didn't start back up. Sounded like a tazer. I'm sick because I got this from a private seller not a dealership so I can't take it nowhere but a shop.
