This makes it sound as if the Walkman invented portable music. Cars had tape decks & radios before the Walkman. People carried pocket transistor radios with earphones. Personal playlists existed in the form of tapes. The only new thing about a Walkman was that it meant the tapedeck you carried with you whilst you listened was now smaller, so you could run.

Beautiful and very thoughtful analysis of this lovely and disturbing poem….so appropriate to our own times. This is about the 8th analysis I have sampled tonight and the only one so far which does justice to Arnold’s grief in his awareness of mankind’s loss of, not just faith,but of those beliefs we take for granted.

This Genteleman professor does not know that there are students from Morocco, the country at the tip head of the African continent, whom taught the same syllabus and are really benefiting from this channel.
