Imagine a Tucker's Kobolds style campaign where playable kobolds outwit and outsmart adventurers and other Humanoids or better yet, lead a rebellion against abusive Barbarous!

Good to see Sword World is more receptive to multi-classing compared to other tabletop roleplaying games
@StarUnreal21 күн бұрын
Good video! I saw the core books talk a little about this issue, but it's interesting how the freedom to only level one class and rise in adventurer level above others presents a concern with game balance. My first couple years in TTRPGs, reading horror stories online and playing with some power gamers, made me gravitate more toward games that focused on inter-party balance through rules. After playing many more games with a wider variety of people, I now think I generally prefer game design that doesn't have a focus on balance, but rather expects players to be kind and thoughtful towards each other. Gathering a table of kind and thoughtful players, and culling those who do not act in the interests of everyone playing, will lead to better games than hard written rules that limit the problems of problem players.

The biggest hurdle for me, as a beginner, is keeping in mind how all the different ranged attacks and spells function while firing into, or through, a skirmish. Well, that and keeping track of how many bodies are in a skirmish for the purposes of both increasing its size and one side being able to walk through freely. Having not yet run the game (but hopefully very soon), I think I prefer how standard combat doesn't allow for ranged combatants to simply move sideways a bit to sidestep their attacks going through a skirmish. However, I am very open to the possibility of ranged combat feeling one-note if the best one can usually do is shoot at the front lines in standard combat.

As most things in TTRPGs, practice can help. Running the game or playing it can help to form opinions and learn rules. We cannot answer every possible question, but try to lead people into useful way of thinking after running system for 3 years now.

These forms of combat certainly remind me of the different battle systems from various JRPGs!

Love this replay, this made me realize how good artificers are actually. Despite the poor scaling on the power table for bullet spells, the fact that you can dual wield guns and constantly dish out an average of 45 magic damage per round. The exp and gamel tax is so worth! Also "The larger they are, the harder they fall." love the foreshadowing.

Sword World makes being a Magic Knight and multi-classing in general quite feasible compared to other TRPGs which usually have penalties for multi-classing, especially if you’re non-human like in Dungeons and Dragons

I was interested in this series of history videos, but the AI voice immediately soured my mood in it. Is it THAT hard to get someone to narrate your script?
@guidedbycardia4 ай бұрын
That will sound better, yes. Luckily, for us, you are in a small minority. In the worst case, you can just read subtitles without a sound. Also, AI voices get better, so our recent videos sound better.

What a mystery indeed that Grassrunners can befriend Daemons, especially Grunels. I'm wondering if there's a scenario that can reveal something about their relationship?
@guidedbycardia5 ай бұрын
We ommited this from this script since this is a speculation, but Forcelia and Raxia share the same Daemons, and presumably, Grassrunners traveled from Forcelia to Raxia via Daemon World.

What are soul scars? I know my character got one after being revived but, I don't understand what they are exactly
@guidedbycardia5 ай бұрын
Raxia has soul cycle. Where it is reborn in a new body, animal or plant, etc. Soulscars are scars on the soul, from being reasurected most of the time, mark of breaking soul cycle. Nightmares have soulscar from just a curse. Barbarous chose to embrace soulscars to become stronger in return of corrupt souls. And 5 soulscars will make you an undead.

is there a place were I can see the breakdowns of the possible class combinations or have they all been listed here?
@guidedbycardia5 ай бұрын
There are too many to list. You can come to our Discord server and ask about how to build X character, and people can help you with the classes needed. Also Character Building Book and Outlaw Profile Book have some builds as types, but I would recommend just asking on the server since those books can be too advanced to read.
