Funny actually, I struggled to hear Will Kean at times when I saw it. And I didn't like the "implied" violence of the fight scene with Iago, Rodorigo & Cassio. If people get stabbed with swords, I want to see it. For me, Desdemona being smothered in total blackout didn't work. I came to see a Shakespeare play, not a radio drama. On a positive note, I really liked Juliet Rylance as Desdemona & Edward Hogg as Cassio. Overall, very good - 3 out of 5 stars, but hardly definitive.

The laughs need to come from the text. Not silly gimmicks.

And yes, the BBC Woke attitude strikes again. Can anyone identify the black African member of Henry the eighth's privy council? No, well there wasn't one, but there is in this show. Also, Jane Seymour's two black ladies in waiting? No? What about her Pakistani lady in waiting? No. Well the BBC have them here. It's utterly, utterly shameful that the BBC insist on injecting their woke politics into TV shows that out tax pays for. There will now be kids in the UK and overseas who believe that non-white people were common the the UK during the reign of Henry the eighth.
If I could write the beauty of your eyes, And in fresh numbers number all your graces The age to come would say "This poet lies; Such heavenly touches never touched earthly faces" It's so beautiful ♥️

Guys we cannot keep thinking that Shakespeare’s plays are going to stay forever in the Elizabethan theatre!! Move on🙌🏻 and if you want the original go make your own adaptation or watch the ones you like😴

Fascinating! And Arthur Hughes remains the best performance of Shakespeare's Richard I've ever seen; he's definitely spoiled me for any more able-bodied actors playing the role.
