Can i stilo replace shifter on my own even though it says system fault see manufacture or something like that..i just want to know because all ligjts ect was still.on and now it just shows that message when i got it tested and reset it several times..

Man if my buddy and I would’ve watched your video all the way through first, we would’ve saved so much time. We spent probably about an hour trying to get the bushing on with channel locks before we realised we needed a c clamp. Didn’t help that this happened to my wife’s car after a Christmas party, when we’d all had a few lol thanks for saving us a trip to the mechanic

Helpful video, I have to say though watching the many attempts to push the bushing in had me cracking up. Reminded me of those troll videos where it’s a loop of one thing an you never get to see the actual outcome 😂 regardless good video it definitely helped me

Hello, so my car had this issue where the shift service fault message popped up. Now my rotary dial won’t budge and it’s flashing the red light on the P symbol. The bushing on mine is still in tact, so you think that I would have to replace the bushing or the entire cable? Thank you.

@@Nicks949 Bro, I legit just got my fusion back from the shop yesterday. Apparently there’s was a electric transmission shift motor problem. That motor is located on the passenger side next to the tire (inside the engine bay). Mine hadn’t been signaling the car to shift so they replaced it and reset the system and it worked. But they told me there could be many different scenarios, it could be the shifter cord that connects to the motor that was bad. I recommend finding a cheaper mechanic that knows how to diagnose thoroughly to see if it’s the cord or the motor. Ford wasn’t any help and they tried charging me before they even helped me find what the problem was. I went to a more local mechanic that knew a lot more about the technical side of cars.

I was lucky. I was able to install bushing and pop linkage back on without removing any additional parts. I considered removing the air filter housing which I think would have gave me good access, but when there’s a will , there’s a way.

Bushings and some wires are made out of nuts so yes of course they will!

Hey! It’s a little difficult to find and hard to explain here. But once you got it you got it. Mine is orange but a little dirty so couldn’t find it easily.

But someone else in here has a great video that shows where the cable is. You will have to reach down between some other pipes and cables but I didn’t have to take any parts off to do this.

I fixed mine with a bushing from my local Ford dealer. It worked GREAT and cost just $1.40 plus tax.

I went to one of the ford dealers near me yesterday to buy one. They said since it's a recall item they aren't allowed to sell it to me and it has to be installed by their tech which could be up to 2 days. 🙃

They told me they won’t have the parts for months but won’t give me a car to drive in the mean time. So fixing it myself is the only option!
