I grew up on the bottom of Park street, 1976 to 1992. I used to walk under that train bridge by the DIY store most days to see my Grandparents. I remember when National Welsh went under, because they would not allow the old station to be used, Brewers and Bustler buses used to fill every nook and cranny! Especially where you got caught up near the York! I moved away in my 20's and return only to see family so I've not seen much of the town centre for the last 20 years. I'm told I would not recognise it anymore, and not for good reason 🤔😥But one day I will return and walk some of the old paths, just for nostalgia. It was so nice to have this ride along with great commentary! Thanks 😁

The good old days before the tory and labour council killed it and druggies swarmed the streets stinking out the town of skunk

Can't believe the changes..the bridge is a lot bigger...now a bigger road directly under it...bus station changed 3 times since then. This was 9 years before I was born too..

Brilliant video, I moved from Cardiff to Bridgend aprox 4 years ago so I did never see what Bridgend looked like then, look how dated all the cars look lol and the 'phone number on the sign was 0222 instead of 02920 Cardiff code as it is nowadays. Please check out my video of a crazy squirrel filmed in Pen Y Fai recently titled: bridgend spiderman video

This is how I remember Bridgend as it was when I left in 1990. Planning madness has turned the place into a ghost town. When I worked on the Glamorgan Gazette in the 70s the town had real friendly feel to the centre. When I walked through it on return last year there was nothing, no life no feeling. If anyone wants to know how to tear the guts out of a town, take a trip to Bridgend. What a terrible shame.

I hardly recognise my hometown... although I am 21 so I would only have been 2 when you filmed this. When did it all start changing? I dont mean for it to be pedestrianised, but when did the job center get built and the train bridge road change.... dont ever remember it looking like that.

Thats brilliant! Wow Town has changed so much..and u forget what it was like...It was so much easier to get around town then...you should show this to the people in the council and show them what they've done to town and how they've screwed it up!
@bood22ataol15 жыл бұрын
it was an amazing place to grow up, and i'm talking less than a decade ago. shame theres so many kids hanging around the streets taking drugs and carrying knives. you walk around town and see twelve year olds pregnant and swigging special vat, its sick.
@bood22ataol15 жыл бұрын
well theres no traffic, so the alcoholics and smack rats aint gettin killed off anymore. the town has been over run with the fuckers.

Thankyou for posting this. Cheered me up remembering when Bridgend used to be a busy place, that was of course before they let the muppets at the council cock up/close all the roads off so no-one can be arsed to go there any more...........

The town of my younger days. Certainly brings the memories back. Bridgend is all ugliness and beauty mixed together, like any large town, and I miss the place a lot.
