Thats a great review on the vios and for the S70. I was on the fence weather the 3 japanese cars for quite sometime. The city, vios or the almera. The almera to me is a bit lacking due to the 1 litre turbo engine as it might be the Achilles heel of the car and also i dint hear any good word of mouth on nissan in quite sometime. The vios on the other hand to me the biggest let down was the lack of a foldable rear seats as the option to have one is a godsend especially buying furnitures, the spare tire is a bit of a let down but i can live with it. The city was my highest pick to buy for my next car but as with all 3 cars they both have cvt gearbox i was put off by it and so i was wondering for quite sometime right until my wife tell me about the proton X50. To be honest at first testing the car i was not a fan as the seating is not suited for me. After that i saw the S70 on display and i ask to test drive it and i was smitten to say the list. After that i buy the car and i never regret buying it. But i still wonder what would happen if i bought either the vios or the city. Would i have the same feeling as the S70 or not.

i'm surprised your videos have quite a low view count, and your sub numbers does not match what you're putting out. it's so refreshing to hear someone on youtube explaining the "real world feel" of the cars, and not repeatedly saying what is written on the spec sheet. this is the same cvt in myvi. on paper it's faster than the 4AT, but those who drive it knows. it feels slow. as if it's delaying the power on purpose. i'm interested to know what you think of the S70 after driving one. we are sort of in the same boat. you from forte, i am from inspira 2012. both good cars. both value for money. you sir, earned a sub. thank you!

UPDATE: This video was made before the latest Daihatsu scandal. As of now, I do not have further comments on what has happened on it. And for those who have already bought a Vios, there's not much we can do until somebody releases a statement. This goes the same for Perodua. That center cover trim piece is $20 and rubber cover $20. Hold in with one screw and few clips, super easy to change. It's basically same thing order plastics made in china, because oem quality in those wasn't that good. I replaced mine for $40 and they are mint now.

Buy a lufi xf obd2 for plug & display on dashboard. Use a dashboard clamp for smart phone to record engine prameters for future references. Can display in one menu 9 of 16 parameters in one of the menu page. RPM, O2 value in voltage, MAF in g/second, IAT, throttle body opening, intake air pressure, coolant temperature, etc etc. At 750rpm total the displayment by all 4 cylinders is 11.25litres/second. x0.5atm air pressure at intake manifold = 5.6litre of air per second at 1 atm. However air pressure in each cylinder at DBC will be a bit lower, than the recorded 0.5atm air pressure at intake manifold, due to pressure drop across suction valves. At 5g/second of air by MAF = about 4.5litres of air at 1 atm. This is about correct value. Any gradual reduction toward 4g/second and leaner value of O2 sensor is indicating slight vacuum leak. There is a 1/2" diameter ventilation hose to crankcase that goes back to downstream of throttle valve body. It can suddenly tears off after years of aging. At idling air will be suck into the manifold which is normally at 0.5atm. During supercharger boosting when at >2300rpm boosted air at 1.5atm will leak out and you end up getting lesser power. Supercharger can be boosting at 1.2 to 1.3atm on steep sloop even at engine rpm of 1500 to 1800. Loosing some of this air out of ruptured rubber ventilation tube (which comes with check valve to prevent supercharged air pressure from going back into engine block) will make the car under power. 80% of the driving milage on the road, at <100km/hr, the supercharger will not activated as 50hp is sufficient. During supercharger operation it is normally below 1.33atm or below +5psi for much of the time, even if it is capable to reach +7.5psi. If you buy a new car every 5 years all the above does not matter. Buy keeping cars of >10 years will force to learn, at least in theory, their weakness, faults, warts and all potential in comings problems. But thanks to U tube and smartphones it is not daunting anymore to able keep an old & maintain a 15 years old car. Reaching out to tow trucks, workshops, spareparts shop, half cut are all simple as ABC. Happy motoring.

My 2008 320 CDI has none of chipping and breakage problems. All the switches are in good order, and all the vents are as new. The storage panel covers are in place and in good order. Is it possible that the first owner was rather hard on these items? I certainly agree that the legroom in the back is not good.
