The first storm I experienced was Hurricane Gilbert, which was just a distant, gentle brush here in the Cayman Islands. It was so mild by comparison, I remember I fell asleep on my porch watching it. It made me think that was what a hurricane was. I remembered thinking I'd like to see what a real hurricane was. I will never again utter those words.

So happy that British ship was already in the region off the coast of Puerto Rico. Now they were able to quickly speed towards the Cayman Islands. This is what people don't realise. The Brits are always in the area during June - November hurricane season. Hopefully the French and Dutch will learn to cooperate and be ready to assist their territories during a disaster. Cayman is Back in Business.
