Very cool. Great job. What about static electricity using those materials, specifically the plastic on the plater (assuming abs, pla)? What are your thoughts?
@jazzboy23 күн бұрын
Many thanks! No major problems with static. All the arms, except for the first wood arm, drain via signal ground to preamp. The carbon tubes are conductive and with a small wire trapped by a grub screw, much of the nastiness gets flushed. On the fully printed arms, a small aluminum tube resides within the arm. Great question btw. Cheers.

@AngryManSki try it with chapters, can at least hope version to version or even better, download the raw files and use even the most basic daw to do immediate a/b comparisons. The files are at 24/192 so you get the added bonus of no compression. Reckon one of those should work.

@@jazzboy I just downloaded the Steely Dan ones. I listen to them on my computer using headphones. I didn't hear any discernable difference. Not discounting that what you've provided isn't true. Believe me, I want it to be true because I'm looking to upgrade mine and it's deep rabbit hole with these things. What I'm going to do, cheaply, is I've bought these "similar" OP AMPs and I will try them out with my ears and system and see if there is a notable difference in doing that. And that is the problems with these, I think the individual needs to try it for themselves. But that cost money, not a huge amount but who wants to reinvent the wheel, which is why we are here on the internet. The one's I'm going to try are AKLIAM 1 Piece LC5 LC6 Low Noise Low Distortion Class A Discrete Op Amp Upgrade. If you copy and paste that in a search browser, there is also a KZbin video giving a run down on them below the link to where you can purchase them. Thanks for the Video.

Your attitude towards audiosciencereview is a bit like offering your body to science, so for them to cut you to pieces was largely to be expected, wasn't it? 😉Otherwise, yes, I completely agree with your philosophy on sharing experience. In this hobby, you have to remain pragmatic and trust your ears more than the measuring devices, my microphone certainly hears better than I do, only it doesn't understand what it hears, it can't distinguish between quantity and quality, taking the listener out of the equation means forgetting who should benefit from the end result.

In the proper application these wee beasts are truly game changers! Considering the whole case is a heat sink, they are not really running that hot, we can just feel the heat as opposed to it be being contained in a larger case.

With a single beam probably you will need to add only a 3d printed headshell probably a counterweight and a pivot point .

Thanks for the comment. Yes, a build vid will come soon. The dual beams were to mimic the first design I built out of wood and aluminum and also to have separate runs runs from the cart. Interestingly, I am planning to design a single beam as well. Just too much on the plate at the moment.😁Cheers.
