i too was unable to beat death on the nes. i believe i even got in an endless cycle of death saving state on the emulator, instead i just watched some guy finish that game lol. ill always love castlevania I, cause I grew up with it, but metroidvania came to stay lol

i can't believe you think this game is worse looking that circle of the moon. i don't think circle of the moon looks bad, they both look better than harmony of dissonance, but this is one of the best looking games on the gba.

i'm curious to see if you ever figured out that alucard doesn't get a sub weapon because his sub weapon is turning into a bat and flying. it drains hearts pretty quickly but it can make difficult platforming areas much easier.

you probably know this by now, but many of these places you can't figure out how to get to require the thief, grant. you get him in the clock tower early in the game. he can climb on walls and ceilings.

Yay! You figured it out!! Great work! That was a tough boss fight for me, but cake for you. The Mantis Lords were easy for me but they look to be giving you a challenge. I’m glad you didn’t use a guide, I know it can be challenging but you got this!

Glad to hear you’re feeling better! You’re actually not playing too bad. In fact I’d say you’re doing pretty good. Hollow Knight is a surprisingly challenging game. I also find it somewhat funny that you go everywhere but the place you’re supposed too, haha! I had to go back and watch why you missed the next step. I’m sure you’ll figure it out! One of the great things about Hollow Knight is you can approach all the areas from different ways. Almost every zone has at least two different entrances/exits. You’ve explored a few areas that I didn’t get to until much later in the game. You’ll get there eventually. Also, that sword you never use (the dream nail) can be used more if you’re interested in the story. But, I will let you figure that out if you’re so inclined as the story in this game is mostly optional and told through non conventional means (think like Dark Souls). As for the dream orbs, maybe there is someone you can talk too about them?

You’re still doing great! As for the maps, I’m more used to Metroid, which has map rooms, verses Castlevania which unlocks the map as you go. So the whole map thing didn’t really bother me. Hopefully you’re enjoying the game so far. I know you’re a far way from finishing this game, but will you also be playing Bloodstained Ritual of the Night?

So, now that I’ve had a chance to completely watch the episode. I enjoy the blind play through because watching is almost like having the “magic” of discovery all over again. I don’t think I’ll provide advice unless you’re really stuck. I don’t think you’ll find this game too challenging since you’re pretty good at these types of games. I do think there are a few bosses that might trip you up, but that aside I think you’ll probably get more stuck on the exploration. This game has a surprising amount of depth and was significantly longer than I expected on my first play through. It is entirely possible to miss or skip sections of the map. The story of this game is told indirectly through NPCs, lore tablets you find in the areas, and item descriptions. When I first played, I played on a friend’s recommendation. I had not even seen a trailer before playing. Initially I thought the game was “ok” and dark as you said. But the more I played the more I enjoyed it and upon reflection I have to agree it’s one of the best games I’ve played. I’m excited for the sequel to Hollow Knight, SilkSong. I don’t want to spoil any of the blind play through. However I will answer your question and say you’ll be able to buy maps from the shop only if you miss Conifer (the map bug). I’m not 100% sure what causes him to leave a zone since the game can be played non linearly, but I think it’s when a boss is defeated for that zone. He will actually just leave a note card saying to buy the missed map from his wife in the shop. Also, I love Steamworld Dig as well! Amazing games! I look forward to every entry. Sorry for being wordy.

Dracula in this game was kind of silly. On the final Dracula form, if you use a Medicine Jar item (temporary invincibility) and walk through him to get behind him, you can just attack him from behind and he will never turn around or be able to attack you.

I've been binge watching some of your Castlevania game playthroughs. I wish I had been watching this back in 2015 because every time Alucard flashes blue and you wondered what it meant, I wished I could have commented that it just meant your MP was full lol

If it was a blue cd with "Sold out" plastered all over it, then it had already made the budget pile. Or it was one with Broken Sword crudely scrawled with permanent marker.
