I'm working on a guardsman army and have a few models with kilts. I wanted your opinion on how to approach cel shading on a pattern. My thought was to cel shade the base color and then lay in the lines as solid unshaded colors.

This looks like a fun, awesome technique. How would this work for black armor? Do the same thing, but instead of using black as a liner, you use white?

It's not a well-known term, but the opposite of 'zenith' is 'nadir' - but 'nadiral shading' is never going to be a term used by anyone but extreme grammar geeks.

I'll try to make these as my next summer project. Thank you for sharing!

Nice job. However gold doesn't develop verdigris, it just tarnishes. Only copper, brass and bronze develop verdigris.

I have a request, when you are describing a painting technique you've done, can you show a still image of the part of the model you mean? I find it hard to visualise what you're talking about, and I lose track of the techniques you've said when you go back to the model

By which I mean just an inset picture, not the entire screen haha

I hope we get a video at the end of the series going over each model as a sort of retrospective. Its been so interesting seeing all the different techincs at work thought the series from combos that are amazing to more "academic"

I'd definitely like to do this - I'm toying with making a video on the main channel about it (though probably a bad idea)

Nice! I love these videos and would love to know what camera/microphone you use for your setup? I was thinking of getting something second hand maybe.

So this is shot with a Canon R6 with a 24-70mm lens, and the audio from a Rode Videomic. Normally I use a Sennheiser wireless lavalier mic but tbqh I was feeling lazy and only had an hour or two to shoot and edit the video! The painting shots are with the same camera but a 100mm macro prime lens. I'm still very much getting the hang of filming painting, and could probably do with changing the angles I use.

Nice 😊 I think you did really well with the restriction ~! Also the spin cliff hanger was really neat I’m not usually into space wolves 🐺 but now I’m curious hahaha I’ve been trying out doing 4 randomised colours and that was a challenge enough loosing another colour on top seems like a bit of a nightmare 😅
