Because it is an aboslute pleasure to shear by hands. It is for her as much as it is for myself. The slow movement of the shears and the intimacy that builds up between her and me is all what it is about. It is not about taking the fleece off her back. It is about the relationship and the trust that is created from being together in such a way. Alpacas are not naturally prone to touch each other, not even their babies, but when they experience a loving touch, they know to recognise it. Topaz is happy or she would not let me so close to her and interact in such a personable way if she was experiencing any discomfort or fear within herself. So the fact she sits still for me only comes from a place of peace and joy. Therefore the exercise is not about the time it takes but about enjoying the moment and making it last. I hope that makes sense.

I think llama looks more cute than alpaca...sorry it is my personal point of view. Anyway honestly you are winning the hearts of these innocent animals...This is the first time I am seeing it is done without any tied force. .thanks.

Why don’t you use electric shavers For sheering. Takes 3 mins or so? This is just a questions, less time, and less stressful for the animals. And I’m sure your hands have got to hurt by doing it by hand.
@iknowyouwanttofly3 жыл бұрын
Maybe some animals find it more stressful cause the noise?

The way you interact with those alpacas is intuitive. You strike me as a woman who not only knows what they're thinking, but _cares_ about what they're thinking, too. This is evident in the way they respond to you. They're extremely receptive to your affection. Instant sub.
@aliciaroot22013 жыл бұрын
Why don't you hire someone to shore the lamas? Less stressful for them and about 30$ an animal?

Why do you think it's less stress for a stranger to do it when she does just fine with her
@launabanauna89583 жыл бұрын
The manual cutter seems so much less stressful and certainly less loud noise for the animal,(and person) than the electric sheers.

This is one of the most amazing things I've seen! I love the relationship and trust you've built with them, and the care you take. I am simply gob-smacked that you do it this way with those shears... beautiful beautiful! (FYI, arrived here because I was watching another alpaca shepherdess' videos...)
