Been watching him play since the mid-90s, while I'm no fan reducing things to "this band/musician is the greatest in the world", I can't help but break that by saying I think Nels IS the greatest guitarist in the world (well, along with Hendrix and Robert Fripp). I have seen him do everything from skronk noise freakouts with the likes of Thuston Moore or my friends in White Out to whipping out incredibly technical feats of guitar wizardry, the guy can play anything, with great skill and passion.

I like how hes playing in a little modest jazz quartet and all of the sudden he busts out a John Petrucci-esque metal solo with a crazy digital octave pedal. Hilarious.
