To be honest, I don’t know. They look like they are bolted so I guess it’s possible but I’ve never had the need to try. I’m guessing that removing the seat post and bars would probably allow you to transport it on its side. But, again, it’s not something I’ve ever thought about trying.

2:58 what crank extractor to get?
@TheImprobableIronman17 күн бұрын
To be honest, I'm not really sure they have sizes per-se. The one I used was just a cheap one that came as part of a Halfords Cyclists Toolkit I've had for about 12 years now - so it's really nothing special. I think the key thing is that you'll know if it's right if you can screw it in gently by hand. Never use tools to install the outer threaded portion into the crank arm and be sure that you do not cross-thread it (which is why you should never use a tool to install it).
@michaelwareing895313 күн бұрын
Hi thanks. I’ve used a crank extractor which fits fine but when I screw in the extractor it doesn’t seem to have anything to press against and the crank doesn’t come off. Or do anything 🤷♂️

What size tyres did you run on the superteams?
@TheImprobableIronman18 күн бұрын
I'm running 25mm GP5000s. That seems a bit of a sweet spot for these wheels - and also about as wide as I dare go in the frame.
@cmdrrockswift220418 күн бұрын
@@TheImprobableIronman think i historically tried 25s on the front of my exocet 2 and it rubbed the top of the fork. I gather this wheelset is quite wide, so reduces tyre height? Would you still recommend the wheels now?
@TheImprobableIronman18 күн бұрын
@@cmdrrockswift2204 Having raced them for a season, I think I would - with one Caveat. I would not order a set of 88s - rather a 60/88 set. Having the 88 on the front makes them a real handful on a gusty day (and in certain yaw scenarios). I think a 60 on the front would be far more stable and in fact, I've recently purchased a 60 front from them for this very reason. Going to do an update video when I get a chance to fit the wheel and test it.

thank You so much for your great review. What kind of TV (size / type) do You recommend? And should I use apple TV? thx M
@TheImprobableIronman26 күн бұрын
Many thanks for this - I'm glad you found it helpful. Personally, I'm using a 50" TV. I actually think that for any of the indoor 'virtual reality' apps, the bigger the screen, the better. So basically - get the biggest your budget will run to. Apple TV is a great option in my opinion, however, do be conscious of the limited Bluetooth connectivity. Apple TV only gives you two spare Bluetooth channels - so if you are running a bluetooth trainer and also a bluetooth heart rate belt then bear this in mind - especially if you also wanted to use AirPods etc. This test was actually done using an Apple TV - so as you can see, it works pretty well. And I maintain that Apple TV is really one of the most cost-effective solutions out there. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

@TheImprobableIronmanАй бұрын
Many thanks for this. These really are nice wheels but I totally get your concerns around cross-winds. For total transparency, in a couple of races I did find that they can be 'flighty' when down on the bars. If you saw my Belvoir Castle Race Report video, I actually opted to run my smaller section American Classics because of that and I have just purchased a 60MM front from Superteam. A lot of that probably comes down to personal preference and the majority of rides are totally fine with both 88s in the bike. But I'll be reserving the option to run a smaller front on a breezy day. I have to agree. This frame design was a real dropped ball on Trek's part. When do you take the creatine and how much gram? Heard it's not ideal to take it close to caffeine intake but not sure if this is backed up by something. Great video!
@TheImprobableIronman2 ай бұрын
Personally, I take a 5 gram scoop (a heaped scoop from my tub, using the provided measure) in a glass of water or orange juice straight after my morning workout. I find it works best in fresh orange juice as the powder seems to stay in suspension better in the juice - it being more viscous than water. The directions say to take it in 240 ml of water - but I just use half a standard glass. Generally, I give myself about an hour between creatine and first coffee and have not experienced any side effects (which seem mainly to be stomach upsets). Many thanks for watching and commenting.

Having used Creatine for nearly 3 months now I'd agree with your conclusions. As a 60+ bloke rowing and running, my strength has clearly taken a boost and endurance looks, in my stats, to have come along nicely. Small amount of initial weight gain ( annoying as I'm dieting ) BUT it does appear to be more water retention as waist size has continued to drop. I will be continuing on 5g a day for ... well, probably forever 🙂 . Thanks for the videos.
@TheImprobableIronman2 ай бұрын
Many thanks for watching and commenting. I'm totally with you on the weight gain being mostly water - and I've even felt more de-hydrated at times, which I guess is a consequence of muscles hanging onto more fluid. @TheImprobableIronman2 ай бұрын
Many thanks for watching and for your comment. It's a good question (and one I should have covered in the video if I'm honest). The simple answer is - yes - I have gained a bit. I weigh every day so it's hard to be accurate (my weight can fluctuate by 1.5 kg day-to-day, depending on time of day and what I've done training-wise). But I would say that on average I've probably gained about one kilo in average weight. Given the benefits I'm seeing, I think I can live with that.

@@TheImprobableIronman Great , thanks for your reply. yes I'm a 50+ cyclist and not very powerfully built. So do struggle on the flat compared to bigger riders. Most of our club races are either flat or rolling so being light usually isn't much help! So I think an extra kilo or two if it comes with even a slight increase in power could be quite beneficial. Good to hear you've felt benefits later on on your rides too :)

Many thanks for watching and commenting. I know what you mean about it being hard to pin a gain specifically on Creatine (or any supplement for that matter). But a gain is a gain and I definitely feel the endurance benefit (which it sounds like you are too). A lot of bodybuilders report that they get gains because the creatine lets them push harder for longer so I'm pretty sold on it as a positive - and more importantly non-harmful - supplement.

I used it in the past when I was doing more gym work and never had any health problems. I'm now in my fifties and I'm going to start using it again, just sensible amounts. I think quite shallow is a fair description. But it's perfectly swimmable; probably a similar depth to the shallow end of a decent pool in places. A few years back, I did the Castle Race series at Hever Castle...now, that was a shallow swim (in places that was more like a mud crawl). Belvoir was far better than that.

Interesting experiment, mate! I've had similar experiences with creatine. I used it in my powerlifting days ages ago. Also, I have used it in the past (for a couple months) to get stronger on the bike. No negative side effects and personally the weight gain due to water retention is minimal and the body adapts, so after a short while it will also adjust and probably go down in weight again. For cycling (or any other endurance sport) I can't say if it helped me. When I used it, I was at peak motivation levels at the time and was already improving a lot on the bike. I am tempted to give it another try now I see you use it as well. Interesting to see the update videos and if you will keep using it in the long run.

Thanks as always for watching and commenting - hopefully you're finding your cycling mojo again?

One (minor) thing on garmin connect; the segment top-so much has no possibility to ‘protest’ against impossible segment times set. When it’s obvious someone was in a car getting the ‘kom’ (hello strava) , there’s no way of getting rid of that. In strava you can. Just yesterday i could delete someone from the top-10 who rode 93km/h on his bike in my flat country. I was 9th, now i am 8th again lol. If only in garmin i could do the same, report obvious fraude.
