Here is something very weird about this album: some of the instrumentals are the exact same instrumentals that back up another LP from that time - a children's album called "Woody Woodchuck Christmas Sing Song". "Woody" is really a ripoff of "Alvin the Chipmunk", and all the songs are sung by "chipmunk" voices - even "The Christmas Song" made famous by Alvin and the Chipmunks! I kept hearing very familiar riffs on various tracks of "Hail to Christmas" but when it came to "Rudolph" there was no doubt: that celesta tag at the end of the song is identical to one that appears on Woody's album. However, Woody's album was released by Premier Records. How did the same musical scoring for many of the songs end up at two different record companies?

Holy cow you added butter and ketchup to the sauce? Aye carumba. Next time look for the Cento brand or any brand with San Marzano tomatoes. Always buy two cans, and make sure you have some fresh garlic and basil, and one egg with the meatballs is absolutely necessary, Browning the meatballs before adding to the sauce helps also. You forgot the grated cheese, parmesan, Romano or pecorino.

I swear, if you've never tried the Honey BooBoo Sketti (1/2 butter, 1/2 ketchup.) don't knock it..it's like elevated spaghetti-Os, lol.
@jackblondie94247 күн бұрын
I haven’t made a lot of meatballs but I wonder if you could do them meatloaf-style where you just throw anything you have into the mix; different condiments, leftovers, garlic, orange peel, etc. If you tire of the spaghetti maybe you could make a few meatball subs out of some of it for a change up. Or maybe heated over some toasted garlic bread with parmesan and a salad.

Good ideas. I forgot I got a orange bell pepper to put in my spaghetti...but thought I could also do a stuffed pepper with the leftovers.

I’m so glad you like the hat ❤. When I make meatballs for spaghetti I use Italian sausage, bread crumbs and an egg. I’ve browned them in the frying pan and I’ve also baked them. Sometimes I will make them with ground beef or turkey the same way but add some Worcestershire sauce, brown them in a frying pan. Remove excess grease, add cream of mushroom soup and serve that over egg noodles or rice. Poor man’s stroganoff 😉
@Kaiwaza6 күн бұрын
Yes, I don't mind the idea of just eating meatballs unadorned with pasta or noodle too, lol...Swedish meatballs sort of I guess.

I’ve always browned first and then added to sauce. I’ll have to try them this way. Usually, I have chicken breast with my spaghetti. Sometimes beef/hamburger upsets my stomach for days. I’ve read that certain blood types should avoid beef and I think I’m in that group.

They are very soft when not browned before, which is why the instructions I saw said not to stir the sauce too much when they are cooking...but it was really delicious.

Thanks for the fresh tour. It makes me long for the days before the lounge revival when the thrift shops were still full of items like that. Not to mention more and better records. I love the weird, exotic orange piece. Grocery hauls are fun too. I suppose I should like food better than records, but it’s debatable. Cabbage and an orange is probably better for a cold, though.

I wamt to know about Anita kerr and how she was able to head up her group in an era when most choir directors were men Anita Kerr was a trailblazer in the music industry, especially during a time when most choir directors and arrangers were men. Born Anita Jean Grilli in Memphis, Tennessee, she began her musical journey at a young age, taking piano lessons and playing the pipe organ2. By age 14, she was leading the Grilli Sisters vocal group. In 1948, she moved to Nashville and started a singing group for WSM's "Sunday Down South" radio show. Her big break came when her group, the Anita Kerr Singers, provided a featured vocal part on Red Foley's 1950 crossover hit "Our Lady of Fatima."2 This success led to a recording contract with Decca Records and numerous collaborations with prominent artists like Eddy Arnold, Burl Ives, and Ernest Tubb. Anita Kerr's talent and determination allowed her to break through gender barriers in the music industry. She worked alongside key producers like Chet Atkins and Owen Bradley, shaping the hits of many artists and helping to define the "Nashville Sound."1 Her creativity and leadership made her one of the most influential vocal and instrumental arrangers of her time.

Yes she sure was. Her voice is rather distinctive as well, and you can HEAR her when she's a part of other backup groups or they are using a pseudonym, which happened occasionaly.

Do you just keep adding more and more new music to the pool of playlist songs on Moody Mood (and the others), or do you pull things out as you add new ones to limit the overall number of tracks they’re cycling through at a given time?
@Kaiwaza8 күн бұрын
The storage alloted to each station with the basic plan fits about 9,000 songs (or less for Radio Green Goddess, as New Age songs/track tend to be longer. So, when I get close to that I start deleting the material that's been on there the longest, so there is a rotation...but 9,000 is WAY WAY more than the average easy listening station would have been programming at any time.

Great idea to digitize the boxes now since those would tend to get neglected for single discs the rest of the time. I haven’t collected many of them but I do like them. The whole of the easy listening world trying to remain contemporary in the 60s and 70s is fascinating to me. You could say that trend began slowly with The Twist craze in the early 60s and then gained steam. Or maybe it was the 3 Bs: Bossa, Bond and Beatles, that signified it was a new era and they had to get with the times. Still don’t have any Rod but my 1st record in that vein was Richard Harris’ A Tramp Shining which was strangely compelling. That was probably my introduction to Jimmy Webb too.

Many of people from Welk's generation spoke two languages. Wisconsin was pretty much a Polish community. My father grew up speaking it but they ditched polish once his grandparents died. There was no need to speak it anymore for them. As that older generation died all the kids stopped speaking it because they wanted to be seen as American not Polish, German, Irish, etc. Now I have friends that are in large groups trying to learn to speak Polish and learn their traditions.

I’ve never kept a diary per se but several years ago I started keeping a general log for tracking exercise and weight, doctor visits, trips made and out of town visitors, natural phenomena (eclipse day, major storms, power outages), any major changes in life circumstances: residences, job, relationships, births, deaths, marriages, etc. The number of things has grown as time goes by. Today, I’m so glad I do it and dearly wish I had kept similar records earlier in life. It does come in handy more often than you think for reference purposes or creating timelines or even just to help with a bad memory. It’s fascinating to look back at what was going on years before, what you were up to, where you were, who the people in your life were at the time. I always just wrote everything down on wall calendars but now I’m starting to digitize more of it. I still do plenty of regular card and letter writing, list making, artwork. They say the best way to learn (and memorize) something is to both read, write and speak it.
