Hi folks! Quick update since it's been a bit since this video was made: 1. Balena's Etcher program (etcher.balena.io) now works with flashing the IMG onto the USB sticks! Definitely easier than the CLI method, lol 2. @shogston mentioned that you can hit Tab to get into the SZ's BIOS (which I've tested, and it does work). Someone else recommended that you can hit Fn+Del, but I haven't tested that myself. 3. All the commands and stuff used in this video can be found in the GitHub repo I made for this video: github.com/aidanlok/SZ-to-RWG-Conversion

So, I was wondering about this for the Meta headset. So it's not picking up your head movement and you can only deal with that window... Dang. I was hoping for full support. I was so disappointed in an x-wing/tie-fighter game that had the same problem. Thanks for the attempt.
@golem_videomakingАй бұрын
you can get head movement installing track ir, a free software that will track anything (vr headset included) and it's fully integrated into sc. but that's not still 3d or vr of any sort. for that the most similar thing is vorpx, a software which simulates 3d stereoscopic with track ir and stack all the things up to your face, making the illusion of vr. don't try that, is for really strong stomach i can garantee you and require a lot of performance, and the experience will never been even close to any native vr game (like elite dangerous or nms for example). but it still a possibility, i play it most of the time in this exact way

Can you use your eyes to move the cursor where you want it while coding instead of a mouse when using Safari? And if so does it work well? That would be incredible for ergonomics. 👀

There's a fellow in the SC community that has been focusing on Pre-Native Star Citizen VR for a long time - his stuff includes tutorials, ratios, workarounds, and community assistance. Checking his stuff may be beneficial to your SCVR journey! I won't post names so as to not be promoting other channels, but you can find him by searching for the term "VR Citizen".

you shoulve kept it in the box, current headset imo is just a prototype, shoulve used it as an investment for collectors in the future. say 30 years from now when the tech is way more main stream and the first batch factory sealed vision pros are hard to find. but each to their own.

People tend to buy very expensive electronics, then want to skimp on protection for those electronics. I want to save money too but maybe there's a better way to present your argument.
@aidanlok2 ай бұрын
buying a pelican case is the literal opposite of skimping on protection lmfao ever wonder why the US military moves javelins in pelican cases? or why RED sells their cameras with a pelican case by default? :)

Just a bit of constructive criticism but if you're going to review a product that you do not have it would be recommended that you at least know the correct pricing. The price of the Apple vision pro carrying case is $200, but the complaint about how much it cost in comparison to how much the actual vision pro cost is reasonable. If one can afford it, that's not an attack just an observation.

yeah... so VisionOS is a derivative of iOS (kind of like tvOS/WatchOS/every Apple mobile-ish device)... it really seems like Apple's goal is to keep everything as similar to the iOS as they can, and you can also see that in the recent updates to macOS with the widgets, etc. unfortunately, iOS seems to be their standard, and I don't see them wanting to change that any time soon :P

It's weird to me that the AVP has an M2 chip in it, but you still need a Macbook. It would have been killer to just have it as your compputer, with a paired keyboard and mouse. I think that is a major missed opportunity.
@aidanlok3 ай бұрын
you can do that! check out this video where I do exactly that with a Magic Keyboard + Trackpad :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5ylg5-QeNx2prs
@charlieperry42433 ай бұрын
This is obviously cool but there’s some pretty significant downsides. For instance your MacBook may have a more powerful chip than the m2 so that may not keep up. Also if your files aren’t on iCloud that’s going to be a pain too
@aidanlok3 ай бұрын
this is absolutely true. I will add that the AVP will definitely get better over time, but I’d say that currently the AVP is kind of a VR iPad right now. the Mac virtual display is _essentially_ Sidecar but in VR. As for the files in iCloud issue? that’s kind of a general Apple products thing. This being said, code server works quite wonderfully in the AVP browser and so does Google Workspace :)

it's already in the works, and the requirements are pretty stringent, but honestly? I don't know if it'll really change much. Anyone who actually wants to publish a good app right now can already do so... and Apple's review process really isn't that difficult, I've done it a million times :)

nice video. You didn't mention comfort, which is something a lot of other users are complaining about. How long can you use it for before the discomfort level is annoying? And how long of a rest before you can reset this is suffcient?
@aidanlok3 ай бұрын
that's a great question! I use the dual loop band because the solo knit band is (as other people mention) pretty uncomfortable... this being said, when using the dual loop properly, I've done several hour long coding (and editing) sessions without ever taking the AVP off, with maybe adjusting the straps once or twice. as for how long a rest? 10 minutes, tops? tbh, when I use it, I only ever take it off if I'm going off to do something else for a while ;)

ive been doing that with my windows pc and my quest 3. both the pc and headset together costs less than the vision pro, what a scam
@aidanlok3 ай бұрын
I mention this in one of my videos, but the Vision Pro isn't for everyone! I've tried other VR headsets (not the Quest 3, yet), and the AVP is much more comfortable and the OLED displays are just so much nicer (I am an OLED fanboy lol, can't go back). But yes, the Quest 3 is marketed to... much more of a broader audience than the AVP, and I think that's intentional! Apple has always done that; look at how they entrench people into the Apple ecosystem :)
