Used to fish Southbourne in the 80s and 90s. Fantastic to see it fishing so well. That’s a great PB, I caught my PB bass and small eyed ray from the same spot many years ago. I’m back there in a couple of weeks.

how has the blackrock foosa been treating you pal im on the fence with regards to getting one myself , you been using it much ?
@fishaunangling5 ай бұрын
Yeah I've used it with the finer tip a lot and I love it. I used it a couple of weeks ago with the thicker tip and it snapped with a bit of seaweed on so that wasn't ideal. I'm sure it wasn't user error ( I have snapped rod tips before losing my temper with seaweed but not this time). I have a replacement so I'll give it another go. I guess it depends on your kind of fishing. Perfect for the pier and Southbourne type fishing but I wouldn't take it with me for rough conditions or too weedy

What length rod do you use for mackerel, newbie here and the rod I was looking at is 10ft which seems huge to use on a sib, or is that the standard size for mackerel rods? What do you recommend?
@fishaunangling6 ай бұрын
To be honest mate I use whatever rod for mackerel fishing off the boat. I usually use an old spinning rod as I like to cast out. No bigger than 8ft. Sometimes If I'm jigging for mackerel I'll use one of my boat rods that I bring with me for bait fishing. 10ft is too long for a sib imo
@estd19846 ай бұрын
@@fishaunangling Yeah I did think 10ft seemed too long, maybe for shore based fishing, when I see Mackerel rod combos they are all around 10ft, I’ve been looking for what ppl use for Mackerel on boats but it’s not easy to see what rods ppl use.

Hi. I can't figure out how you mounted the TracLoader on the tackle pod. I see the starport mounds, but confused how that mates to the track.
@fishaunangling7 ай бұрын
Hi mate, do you mean the silver bar thing? So that comes with 2 railblaza male fittings that fit straight into the 2 rear starport mounds. They are on the underside of the bar, you just cant see them here
@mikodesignMob5557 ай бұрын
@fishaunangling ah i never knew they came with male starport fittings! That's convenient to quickly remove. I've only seen them screwed into kayaks.
@mikodesignMob5557 ай бұрын
Or I guess you bolted in the male adapters into the tracloader to couple it to the starport.
@fishaunangling7 ай бұрын

Hello mate great video, we was down the pier on Friday night looking for a turbot (I need one for my species hunt) and ended up leaving and going to the beach due to all the people fishing for mackerel. Is there a best time to fish the pier for turbot or brill or anywhere else you can recommend?
@fishaunangling8 ай бұрын
I'd try snd fish the pier in the day to be honest. I was there Wednesday and it was just me until 5pm and then bedlam. Turbot aren't around at the moment though it seems. Not sure where else to try, I'd love to know myself. Probably the beach near the pier is a good shout
