Unbelievable engines and cars captured... Loved the CNW F-Unit at the beginning and the CNW caboose and passenger car were cool to see as well.. Grew up in Illinois during that era, so love anything CNW. Fantastic switchers and Rock Island caboose were other notable catches too !!

Is the locomotive and passengers cars still there? I remember doing the excursion as a kid in the mid 2000s and got ride in the locomotive
@UnionPacificTrainMan1988Ай бұрын
@@Tigsship Unfortanately no the locomotive has sadly been torn apart for parts and the last time i was there which was late 2023 it was only the frame of the locomotive left. The passenger cars have been sold to private owners however it seems two of the passenger cars have been placed on the outskirts of fremont somewhere, someone clams they saw them along hwy 275 but idk if that true or not. As for the right of way still gonna be turned into a trail.

What type of locomotives are these? Anyone know off the top of their head?

These are DL-535E narrow gauge diesel locomotives originally owned by the White Pass and Yukon Railway then the Durango and Silverton bought a couple from them in April of 2020 because of the steam locomotives starting wild fires in the mountains

Whatever happened to the E units? It seems like 949 and 951 aren't brought out much in recent years. They would have been great for this run.
@UnionPacificTrainMan19884 ай бұрын
The reason why the E units aren't being used on these special events is Because they need some parts to be replaced. Ed is more focused on the steam locomotives right now (UP 4014) so until the E units get there replacement parts they will probably spend there future in the roundhouse unfortunately, one of the things was that they couldn't clear certain railroad crossings but I'm not sure if that's true or not but it would be great to see the E units out.
@UnionPacificTrainMan19884 ай бұрын
@CatapultVideos from what I've heard Ed is currently focused on everyone seeing Big boy 4014 first before 844 comes back out. Personally I've seen 4014 twice if not three times so I'm about ready to see 844 again but before that we still got the "Westward Bound Tour" and the "Heartland of America Tour" which might pop up on the channel later this fall
