No it's not action just some burnouts, so why would you stop the action, stop filming just before the race just before the action, only Goofy would know.

They were never that high in the front. The pictures in all the books are of the cars taking off the line on the drag strip, hence everyone thinking they had that stance. There was a crankshaft height limit. That engine needs some help too. I have an A/GS car and love the sport, it takes a lot of time to find true nostalgic parts and employ them on the car build. Nice to see a 40 Willys steel body, I will say that.

He missed explaining the very unique trim system on the horisontal stab. It is run by the aluminum round trim wheel and moves the chain you can see at th etail post to turn a jackscrew that moves the trailing edge of the stab up or down. But in doing so the rear satb wires need to be able to move up and down during the trim process. you can see the wires going into a slit on the tail post here they are able to move up and down with the trim and keep tensioned and trims while doing so.Very complicated Brit way of doing things,

If I'm not mistaken, Shirley started off w/a SB Chevy FED. My dad & his buddies raced against her regularly w/their BB/GD. He has home movies from back then. They even match raced each other at New England Dragway, he has the posterboard somewhere, I saw it. I remember SB Vs. BB in the "Pro Comp" class regularly in the 70's, great races back then.

I dug up a starting crank in my yard with a metal detector several years back, it has a slight bend and crack in it, but could be repaired. Still has the IHC logo and part number 1660TM on it that are still legible. Good vid, it was an easy start and it run good.

My mom and dad and several of my siblings first came to Ohio from Texas in one of these, back in 1948 . Mom and dad left Texas heading west though New Mexico, Arizona into California ( crossing death valley at night to avoid the heat) ,up though Oregon and Washington, then headed east though Idaho, Montana ,North Dakota, Minnesota,Wisconsin, the U.P of Michigan a ferry across the straight of Mackinac into The lower peninsula of Michigan into Ohio. They figured it was a once in a life time trip.

This was William Avery Bishop's second fighter. He was the leading ace to use the SE5a. He shot down 72 aircraft and three balloons. Balloons were most challenging in that they were surrounded by gun emplacements. Bishop was from Ontario Canada and had attended the Royal Military College before signing up. Beautiful work being done on this SE5a. You are to be congratulated on your careful restoration.
