But jesus christ i got seasick when watching this video, the focuspoint jumps around as the person holding the camera is in the middle of a epileptic seizure or something.. Tried to see what type of balun is used but i had to give up.. I have built a couple of non resonant loops but i always use some kind of pre-amplifier, didnt even cross my mind to try with just a balun.. But i will try next time i dabble with it.. Thanks for the video.. Wasnt a pleasant watch but it was free so what F do i have to complain about?

My parents were born in the early 1920s and 1930s, and these radio programs were their favorites. I hope to get this prop in memory of them and the enjoyment they got from listening to these shows in a pitch dark room as kids. RIP Ma and Pops. I was very lucky to love and know two people who grew up during the golden era of classic horror. It's still the best!🖤

It is sensitive but user interface is clunky, you can browse stored channels only one direction and in my device, i cannot adjust the favorite button channel it always returns to mystical 85 MHz which is outside european standards

Great set for a very good price, if you want better reception below 2 Mhz while using the SO239 antenna connection put a link wire between SW/BC and BC on the spring connector on the rear pf the set.

Amazon delivered my little Qodosen DX-286 radio to me here in Canada. Amazing little radio. So sensitive and selective. Getting a second one for a spare. Great for world travel. 😃👍🏼

This is what I want to learn to do and ultimately do well…..upgrade my MLA-30 to copper, a bit larger, and use for a RTL SDR receive only, on the laptop, with spectrum analyzer and waterfall display. Then transmit on a EFHW with my G90 HF and reach out….very far. So if I like the upgraded copper hoop I may save up for the Kenwood TS-590SG ( without the SA or waterfall display , but a GREAT old school HF set). Screens are ok but I’d rather listen to the radio and look at the laptop. Nice video, your copper hoop is what I hope I can duplicate. 73. KN4VAU

As a shortwave listener for over 60 years I really enjoyed your video. Never had the 7700 but did have a Yaesu FRG-7 and the FRG-100B. All were great and your 7700 looks like a great performer. Thanks for the video.

Excellent hack! You can make it semi permanent by cleaning both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol, putting the magnet in the right spot, CLAMP IT THERE gently so you get positive contact, and then add a tiny spot of water thin CA. Star Bond works great.

I’m extremely new with ham radio. I’ve built and owned several sw radios but know very little about ham. I bought one of those Chinese ats25x2 units. I have an 80 foot long wire antenna. I live in Taiwan and I haven’t ever ( in 4 months picked up any ham conversations). I get lots of sw from many different countries, but why can’t I get any ham?

Welcome aboard! I spoken to several hams from China. I believe there are not as many hams on HF. There foundation only allows VHF and UHF. That may be one of a few reasons. However Japan has many radio operators. I'm surprise you can't listen to Japanese amateur radio operators. Also depending on frequency try a different part of the day. Thank you for watching.

What about a flat-plate antenna and build an amplifier into it and see if you can get any stations with it, come to think about it if you live in the top most level of a skyscraper in New York then you might have access to the roof if the maintenance guy lets you.
