Well done David. Very inspiring. Quick question; how did you go about sorting visas? Like ; just apply at the borders ?

Your breath-rate, or speaking ability suggests you are not in the mafetone zone. Speaking or even singing is close to the mark. To think, what you suggest has made impressive improvements in spite of not being quite in the zone!

Terrible video. Bad filming while you were running and out of breath. Stand still will you! And show your data and results visually on on the screen. Couldn't stand to watch it to the end.

So sad to watch this and think this was filmed just a year before our freedoms and liberties were taken away to live under an authoritarian regime. How easy things were just 2 years ago, and how we took it all for granted. Well done for doing it. One of the last people ever to achieve this before the global cull really takes effect 😪.

Super impressive David. You rode right past a restaurant in Montenegro I went to 2 years ago! I was wondering how you managed the local currency changes on your trip. I presume you couldn't use a credit card everywhere, so had to get local currency at times. Was this easy to exchange as you went between countries, or did you end up having to take a bit of a financial "hit" on this from a logistical perspective?
@davidhaywood__2 жыл бұрын
I always made sure to have some USD$ on me, as most people will exchange / take it, but also used a card without international transaction costs. Otherwise it was a case of just trying to find the most reasonable rate for currency conversion, and try not to exchange too much! Only between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, and between Albanian Lek and Euro was where I lost a noticeable amount.

How do you plan your training volume over your 24 week period?
@davidhaywood__3 жыл бұрын
I didn't use a specific formula, but just slowly built the mileage over base training, then dropped the mileage by about 20% from maximum when I started incorporating anaerobic speed work
@juliano0moreira3 жыл бұрын
@@davidhaywood__ thanks for your inputs. One point dr. Maffatone explains is that our brain adapts better to time in comparison to distance. But I wonder how much time or in your case volume is needed for an Iron event, say at your peak aerobic volume week ? ;) thanks again!!!!

Good video. Just started the Maffetone Method. How much did you use the high fat/low carb diet Phil Maffetone advocates - or did you just stick to your usual running diet?
@davidhaywood__4 жыл бұрын
I was generally lower carbohydrate, avoiding cereals and bread mainly. I would have some carbs after exercise but would probably be about 30% of my total calorie intake for the day. I had more carbs in the couple days before the race and on race day. Tend to train lower carb and race with a bit more carb

How are you doing speedwork when that will obviously take you above your 155 maf .
@davidhaywood__4 жыл бұрын
When my MAF pace started to plateau I would do a 3-4 weeks with a couple sessions a week above my MAF heart rate, up to about 90-95% of my max. I'd then go back to MAF
