Thanks so much for your thoughtful productions. May you continue to give us self-protection instruction and commentary. 😌 Obviously, the following comments are life experienced, so please accept this submission as support of your ***Thug Kwan Do: Self Defense*** KZbin channel. It's just one of those aspects of life that we ignore the problem all about us, yet we can awaken once children are abused - thank God! 🙏 Let us show this is a problem that affects every one of us - it behooves us to instruct and support the innocent, infirm, and ignorant. We though, need to practice our advice as a working model for others. Walk the Talk. 🚶 So, I'm asking for more solutions of "bullying" and "mobbing" please. A whole series, if you can. The self-protection value is 1 mind/mental and moral, then 2 verbal, finally it's 3 physical. Bullying (and, mobbing) is systemic in our (US) society from all forms of organizations, and of government - schools, in particular. 🏫 Adults get it good and hard at work, and practically all social environments. My inclination is to make it clear to children that everyone has conflict - bullying is a means to satisfy the bully's own problem. They (children) have priority to protect themselves, then others. Reflection and anticipation are the best ways to deal with bullying and conflict. Avoid placing yourself in places or circumstances known for conflict, and pick your way to deal with difficult people or contentious issues.🙏

Man I am 69 years old and just a few years ago I had a confrontation and I was surrounded by over 25 people less than a block away from my home. I was surrounded and all I had on me was my multi-tool which had a knife on it. I took the knife out and I showed my attackers and told them to back off and let me pass through. They refused! I ended up stabbing one of them... Well let me tell you it ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED MY LIFE ‼️‼️ it cost me $40,000 in legal fees and all I was doing was defending myself ‼️‼️ My attackers were all in their early twenties or 30s... And most of them were carrying guns...🤔😱😱😱

For what it's worth , I've tested the standard 19" ASP baton which I believe was 16 oz , and a Cold Steel 26" which is around 20oz on coconuts , dry branches and beef bones . It was during the pandemic and I had LOTS of time. Not sure if its just the weight or the length but the 26 broke things much easier . It eventually ruins the baton so I don't recommend it but it's worth knowing that the smaller will certainly injure but the bigger will break bones . I've stuck with the Cold Steel 26" , pretty cost friendly . I make my own saps out of 10 -12 oz fishing weights, leather straps and electrical tape . I give them to friends and family that don't train because they are extremely effective , there's a reason they stopped allowing cops to carry them . The baton is for keep people or animals away , clearing the occasional storm drain or knocking down an apple . But the sap is for when you need a sure thing , whatever it hits is broken .

You never "show it to them" if you draw a knife you should be using it.
@ThugKwanDo4 күн бұрын
Thank you for commenting. I would say, a person needs to be prepared to use it if you show it. However, it is situational. I know two people personally who have presented the knife in a non aggressive manner and it was enough stop the situation without violence. They showed it and gave warning and gave the would be criminal a way out.

More often than not I get students that attend short term, and do little or no home training . so my job is to give them some tools that they can instantly absorb and remember . So I focus more on the concept than the actual technique . If all I get across is "Focus all of your being on blinding them" they will come up with the techniques all on their own . It comes down to them at least having a plan, because most people don't have one at all. I hate to say it , but I have yet to come up with a more succinct combat philosophy than The Quicksilver Method from Karate Kid 3! Can't walk, can't fight. Can't breathe , can't fight. Can't see, can't fight . In a way it's extremely beneficial for us as instructors to try boiling everything we know down to what can we teach in one lesson that at least gives this person a chance. I've learned more from that than I have spending years teaching a student an entire system.

Self-defense for quick survival. I like silant, Karv Maga, Muy Boren. Wing Chun for quick defense. End a fight quickly, run, able to kill, if your life is in danger. eyes, throat, chest, groin, take a knee out, crush ankle, open hand to nose, behind ears, etc.

I think the most important aspect of self-defense is situational awareness. The second most important thing is to stay out of high-risk situations in the first place. I've been in the martial arts for a lifetime. I feel it gives me a better chance in a self-defense situation.

Self-defense is a last resort when put into a violent or unsafe environment for yourself or others. You should do a video of the different scenarios say from Cobra Kai, showing the difference between fighting / bullying and Self Defense.

Brother. You don’t decide how hard a fight is or isn’t lol Self defence techniques that don’t working in a controlled context certainly won’t work in an uncontrolled context. Miss me with deadly technique or intent to kill. I’ve been stabbed twice, fought as a bouncer, in the streets, and professionally in both mma and boxing. Take it from someone who’s experienced everything. You’re delusional. Here’s the best self defence tip you’ll ever receive; create distance and increase it. Then keep it that way.

Also belted very highly in 3 different traditional styles. So. I did iron shirt training for years as well. I know the principles and suboptimal application that comes with many traditional styles. I’m familiar with Krav in depth as well. This is genuinely just friendly advice. Perspective and humility is key.
