The "cool off" isn't to cool the car down. It's just in order to remove humidity and such so in the winter/autumn your windows don't fog up.

good luck with your 2002 Volvo it has a Chinese Transmission in it they did not put Sweden Transmissions back into the cars until 2004 it's the same transmission put in the XC90 2002 model the Transmissions are crap
@Peppermint17 жыл бұрын
Incorrect. The S60 had the same 5 speed Aisin transmission (japanese) from the start. The 2001-2003 had major issues with the valve body along with a function called neutral stop and also with a faulty B4 servo cover. The valve body was improved and the neutral stop function removed starting with 2003. Still, the transmissions after 2003 had issues with harsh shifting because on 'fluid for life' policy; this can be fixed installing new solenoids and a new B4 servo piston.

it is a nice engine.. but fuel efficient? Assuming you have the T5, since my '08 C70 has the same EPA numbers, I get 18mpg city. And something closer to 220 HP. There was a polestar upgrade to the T5 in 2010 or 2011 that increased peak HP, not sure if an '02 can take that ECU tune though.
@IwillBwaiting6 жыл бұрын
@Urban Weekend Warrior . Not sure what EPA stands for but the 08 C70 engine is a 2.5 . His car is a 2.3 (T5) , which came next in line after the 300 hp R model . His does have 247 hp and later models came with the 260 hp engine . I went shopping for a C70 ( the 3-series coupe was not within my range ) and came home with an S60 . If I did the polestar upgrade I would gain absolutely nothing but would lose one powerful bit : Max torque would start at 2000 rpm whereas it starts at 1500 stock . Mine is an 05 2.5 T ( same engine as the 300 hp version but mine is the low pressure turbo version with 209 hp ) I commented on this page regarding the fuel economy . I get better or same as the books . You do a lot of city driving I guess with the frequent occasional inbetween sprints . I cannot blame you .

the v40 is a 1.9 turbo 4 and it's definitely not underpowered, you should check for a broken turbo hose, broken vac line and most likely you need to replace the turbo control valve (super easy fix) as they stick when they get old.

Simon Tanguay I sold it recently, it’s been a great car I do regret selling it due to the comfort in those seats, it was like sitting on a cloud, it’s been a great reliable car to me, never gave me any major issues, just always kept it well maintained and up to date with oil changes and the normal tune ups, I would consider buying another one as long it has been previously well taken care of, other wise it would be a total nightmare buying one that had a awful past owner. But it gave me all my moneys worth, would recommend getting one to anyone who likes the style and comfort as well as the speed the r gives
@Peppermint17 жыл бұрын
I have read a lot of comments about these seats as among the most comfortable on the market. They are comfortable indeed, but it's also a matter of driving position. For tall drivers above 6ft or so the car lacks space at the pedals - you will have the push back and fully lower the seat but then you need to stretch your arms too much and there will be no legroom behind your seat (which is already very little). The S80 has more legroom and even more comfortable seats by the way, while the V70 had more rear leg room. On the reliability of the car, like any other European make these are expensive to run past the 100k miles mark if you let a garage do the work (or worse, the stealership). Several things need attention, a/c clutch, PCV system, front spring seats, transmissions on 2001-2002, clutch slave on manual (big job), cabin water ingress, control arms, cabin blower, water leaking into the CEM, anti-skid messages and so on. It is more reliable than a german car, but will have to spend and get good parts online and hopefully be able to service yourself. Of course, you may be lucky to find one with all repairs already done. The good thing is, once you get it fixed, these keep running for a very long time and we have nice forums to help with that.

I find the seats to be really comfortable though. Also, my S60 has 260k kilometres on it (about 160k miles) and it isn't very expensive to keep, except for the amount of petrol it consumes. And that isn't a big problem if I drive cautiously.

Your Volvo doesn't run A/C when you lock the car (compressor is run with a belt from engine!) and cools down the cabin like A8 does but it blows the fan for minute or so to dry out the moisture from cooling system so that it does not smell like crap when you start your A/C like it does in almost every other cars when they get older. This is engaged about 5min after you lock your car. The cabin vent will blow full speed for a minute or so. First time it happend to me I thought my car lost its mind with the electrics and broke because it is quite loud if you stand near the car. That is a smart feature from volvo! Every car should have this implemented.
@goldwinger54346 жыл бұрын
My 2001 V70 turns on the blower about 50 minutes after I park the car, the manual backs this up. You got the reason right. I think that it is a pretty slick idea. It didn't surprise me when it happened because I'm one of those strange people who read manuals.

I too drive a S60 T5. Fun vid to watch! Here are top ten ting i hate about my Volvo! xD 1. The Aw55-51sn transmission, oh man that valvebody is a headache! 2. All the electronics involved in this car! Mine is fully equipped black S60. i get dtcs even from the doors!! xD most likeli some kind of bad contact, havent bothered to clear them. 3. Bushings!! get used to replace these every 30 000km. 4. The black paint! you can see every imperfection/dent on it! 5. If you are an advanced user of Volvos, then u might know what vida is. I really dont like it!! 6. Bad leg space in the rear seat! Used to own a S80, u can really notice the difference! 7. And again, all these ELECTRONICS! Sensors that monitor everything! Like the climate control panels thermometer sensor! it is bad in about every car! Many small components that go bad with time! (Still better than MB, Audi or BMW) 8. When you put on some larger rims than 17", you cant turn fully before the tire touch the inside och the wheel housings! 9. Light bulbs that does not work on the climatecontrol, speedo etc. 10usd / each... there are a few! 10. I hate the fact that many Audi, Bmw, MB owners think they got a dope S4, m3 etc... Until they race on the highway! Sayonara mf!! The t5 with a ecu flash makes this car go bananas on the highway! Even better with a stage 3 tune!! And the german auto boys just hate loosing on the highways! ;D
