I have these same ones; 5160s in back with OME Dakar hvy springs; the weight I have is a CBI dual swing out with a mounted 33 tire, have full Cali raised LED armor underneath a Leer topper and deck drawer system that is not full and it looks “wavy” like it is maxed out. And I was recommended by Offroad that I would only need medium hvy 😂 these look weak to me.

@@norcalbowhunter I have the Old CS047R with the added 3rd leaf, flex it on one side and shoot some Triflow lube (or whatever you have) in between the leafs, not the whole leaf pack just the ends of the individual leafs, usually lasts about a year depending on how much rain is on the roads.

They did the job well. Stayed sharp while field dressing, but needed to be touched up on a stone often while breaking the animal down. They sharpen quick though.

I have a mora companion, it was good last year cutting up an elk, but w the carbon I was constantly sharpening it, makes sense now why most guys buy the replaceable blade knives for backcountry elk hunts. However in January I shot a doe and it was a breeze to field dress her with it held it’s edge well.

I don't think you are quite understanding the use and that's why you were having issues with sizing. I didn't have a choice to go up on my strong fleece 280 full zip. I wanted it to be loose like you have but I have a 52in chest and have large arms and forearm. Waist is only 38. So the 3x has a very athletic fit that goes well over a ss peloton or if colder the 97 fleece as the base. Nothing else would stack under it. But being is is snug it will fit under an insulation jacket and the outer shell if needed, or like you said, if it's not so cold, say 20-25 F then just an outer shell like the guide. I actually have a Cadog from kryptek I've had for yrs and that's my fleece. It's not wind proof much but works okay. I'd like to have an axis from kuiu for my shell. I have the down from kryptek if I'm still to put over everything. They run a sale now and again and I got it for a good price, like 140ish. It's 800 fill goose down but probably not quite as warm but I would recommend it. If I was getting a kryptek shell again I wouldn't get the cadog, I'd get one of the ones that cut the wind 100%.

I have the same thing. I'm not sure if it's an old man emu thing or they're just cheap. I literally just installed OME leaf pack EL111R-P which are a lighter pack than yours but it's supposedly like 10 or 15% stronger than OEM springs. I have no load on the bed, and the springs look just like yours. I hope they aren't garbage, there's a lot of hype out there about the OME brand.

Dakar leafs are designed to work flat you will still have spring rate with them like that
@dlg54854 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I ruled out the Dakars because of stories like this. I'm leaning toward Deaver's 1000 pound leafs for my 2020 long bed off-road. They are expensive as hell but they are the heaviest I've seen for Tacoma without having something made custom. I'll be hauling a heavy slide-in camper full time, so I must have excellent springs.

650 lb above the 1250 lb?, that's way over what that little truck can handle, that's 1 ton on a 1/2 ton truck. Looks like the springs are rated for a total of 650 lb total instead of 650+1250 lbs that's why they look like that!
@gregktm2 жыл бұрын
Ok. The Tacoma is rated for 1250 max. But it will be dragging it's ass on the ground. The 650 is additional weight. Not 650 plus 1250. 650 lbs of whatever and still maintain it's height. Not dragging it's ass.
@enanotodo2 жыл бұрын
@@gregktm I replaced the rear springs in the back and it was the biggest mistake, truck would always shake and vibrate. I spent hundreds trying to fix the problem but never did. I put back the junk original springs, sold the truck and never looked back, I'm done with toyota trucks.

I have the Teton Rain Gear and it is not waterproof. I get soaked in it. Problem is Kuiu won't accept returns if you wear it outside, so I'm stuck with it until I decide to pony up more money for something better. Yeah hoodies are a problem for many. I personally do not care for them for many reasons. We are all shaped different in all directions including head shape and neck length. You are tall and thin like many people including a buddy who is shaped just like you. He knows better than to buy hoodies. Kuiu has many mid layers to choose from. Consider mid layers without hoods and wear a hat is my advise for you and others like you. I prefer them. Hoods get in the way. Pelotons come in hoodless and vests. Buy your hoods on jackets that are on full outer shell jackets and softshells only and you'll be good.
