1:14:46 A very good point. I highly agree. Tools are just tools. It’s the story that matters. People got so deep into the marketing BS or brand wars and forgot that it’s never about the cameras.

Love the process of focusing on the emotion of the characters within a scene to build the visual style and tone of the scene. So many great points from 3 great collaborators and artists! Columbia College Represent!

I really wish more women took an interest in cinematography. I don't know if it's too intimidating and technical or not enough mainstream recognition but I believe women would be better at it than men.

SNL could not have done this better. Great skit guys! Lambasting the ridiculous characters you meet in the current indie film space is genius! Starting with that moment of silence! Hahahaha. How you all kept a straight face, I don't know. Great job!!

1:26:04 Great convo, but Khalid talking about Dubai being an "extremist Muslim town" is really ignorant... especially coming from someone who is supposed to know the region! Dubai is farthest thing from being "extremist Muslim", and even if it was I don't know what that has to do with Salomon being a brilliant DP.

Cannot express how much I appreciate this conversation. I've never heard anyone talk so frankly about labour, health, and community as they relate to the artistic process. I'm a long way from Hollywood (and have no real interest in gaining proximity to the film industry in general) but there's so much here to help inform and transform my own approach to collaboration as an image-maker. Thank you both so much for your work and your transparency.

Great interview. I had the pleasure of working with Callum way back early in his career in 96 and 97. Even under extremely stressful indie filmmaking situations he never lost his focus or his cool. What impressed me most about him was the way he treated others. To this day, if I send him an email, he always returns it. A real class act and true gentlemen.
