Great contrast to that awful dutch christmas tradition where they do blackface every year.

Thank you for this history! Have you ever done any content on Elizabeth Cotten? Too many people think it was the young British rock boys like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Keith Richards who created it, but they just...well, took it.

Black gums?!?! I don’t know why I found this surprising but it was. Hollywood for all its liberalism has always had a racism problem.

One of the most famous was Bill Pickett. He was a master at roping, riding, and roping steers. White men were called cow hands. Black men were called cow boys as mentioned in the video.

Thank you for this. We definitely need to hear more stories of black resistance to white supremacy, now more than ever. I just finished two really great books by Dr. Kellie Carter Jackson-We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance and Force & Freedom. I was introduced to so many Black abolitionists that I’ve never heard of in school like La Mulâtresse Solitude. Again, thank you. You are appreciated.

Were is push on reparations. We tend to skip through justice for all our ancestors. I do want to contribute to this cause. I am a retired Black man on social security. I am a revolutionary since my childhood and a loyal student of his message. But there is little time for me to see fruit from the tree of that we planted in the sixties. We as a people didn't hear or learn from him. We are now so far off his message. Unity seems so much further away. I would like to see work towards reparations also. I have donated money to so many Causes to see nothing happen. I am going to look at my financial situation and try again. If you will support our fight for reparations too. I know it's difficult to do more than one thing at a time, but it's necessary. With Trump in the White House I think somebody might want to listen. Black folks are so confused and divided. A Black agenda and unification of the Black people in America may happen. If we break away from the political parties that we have supported. Maybe we can form our own The Black Boule are going to be in opposition. They were then and they will be now. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

The arrogance of smallminded people knows no bounds. To so confidently change the words of a famous speaker. I genuinely can't think of any other reason for feeling this would be acceptable (let alone necessary) than racism. Sadly, acting and speaking on behalf of people considered to be of "lower" status is still super common today.
