Ok, representation could be better but also could be a *lot* worse. Then! I saw someone in blackface in the background of the film. Yuck, but expected. Then!! The man co-Star insisted on forcing a meet cute. Ok whatever, old time mysomgony to compliment the old film. Par for the course, he bosses the women around as if it is flirting. Then!!!! Then he starts to apply blackface on her?? Talking about how he got his start in show biz with it??? Like it’s good???? I couldn’t palette the movie after that. A meetcute in blackface is too archaic for me, hell no. How reprehensible to glorify a demeaning practice by using it as a vehicle for a privileged pair of people to establish a love story? Whack. It happened, it exists. I denounce such things and aim to more support better medias that depict people in a positive light
