I'd recommend you get the mint mace to take on the infected ladybug. It's weak to busting and fresh. Just make sure you have better armor than aphid slippers. Use aphid slippers when traversing. My recommended armor set for you is ladybug armor. It gives great defense stats which can carry you through until you get to the upper yard. It may be tedious but trust me it is worth it. I'd also use the food you had cooked up to heal your health as well. Get a smoothie station and craft health smoothies to heal you in fights, along with granola bars. Bandages are alright when used in mass.

You should try getting a pet asap they give a whole row of inventory space and the 3 new ones give 2 rows if you don't care about spoilers check the wiki one of the voice lines gives a hint on what you can tame and the 3 new ones you should figure out easily just be nice to certain "women" and you'll get them
