Was Loth actually Lok / Lot? This was a common abbreviation used for this son of Caw (Caddow) king of Strathclyde who's full name was Saint Maelok. St. Maelok was called, Lok, Lot, Log (Maelog), Loch, Lauch and Malo. If he was then he has was a prince of Strathclyde in the 6th century who lived in Lugo in Spain and attended the second Council of Braga 572ade. Maelok predates saint Kentigern by 20 years or so at a maximum.

I really appreciate this break down. I’m having a weird introduction to what I believe is the Dagda, and while I am aware of the Morrigan and their daughter Brigid, I don’t understand why he is contacting me or what he would want from me, but I’m getting very clear messages it’s him, namely having his name on a loop so often I had to look it up to see what it was. I thought it was a word I invented because it’s a nice sound. Now what? He has my attention, but I don’t know to what end.

Is there another video of yours where you go into more detail about your belief in deities? I have had gods described to me as ideas, rather than archetypes - ideas that people held in such high regard as to ascribe them the status of divinity, and stories about them as ways to express those ideas and glean wisdom from them. But I don't know if I could go so far as to say that they are beings with agency.
@KrisHughes
@KrisHughes 6 күн бұрын
Well, straight up, I believe that they are beings with agency. I don't really go in for heavy theological arguments to support that - it's just not my style. I find a lot of theology a waste of time. I believe the gods are real, but I can't prove it to others. Nor can they prove that the gods aren't real. I'm often happy with embracing mystery.

Thank you for this breakdown. When I first began to delve into spirituality of this nature, I wondered at the groups that called themselves Druids, thinking to myself, "How can they claim to be actual druids?" Eventually I came to recognize that they (the reasonable and sane ones) don't - which led me to discover the educational and ecologically-minded aspects of modern Druidry. As an atheist, I find this approach to nature-based spirituality very intriguing.

Thank you for this video. My friend passed suddenly (quietly/peacefully/painlessly as well) on the 3rd, and while we never really spoke of the afterlife, he did often talk about his Celtic and Irish heritage. "We probably just need to embrace the mystery." I think he'd have liked that.

I have been the envy of Taliesin, and the belle of Olympian balls; every god, competing for my calls. What are we - but dust in the dirge; star-blasted ashes, swirling to a song of aeolian harps? To see order re-established: 👨‍⚖ One needs nothing; only stamp Earth, with a staff of recollection. Every god is beguiling. Dignity belongs to no higher station; rather, to each who knows his station.

I get the feeling that people are turning to the Earth out of concern and respect for Her. People then look to pre-christian religions out of a need to get closer to the Earth. People seem more interested in nature, the seasons and the weather. The question on people's' minds is, how were we before the Romans.

In lockdown, I had a experience, I was looking out the window around 3am and I could see what looked like a small child standing outside on the path, it was white, put my glasses on and it was a large white owl? I opened the window and it took flight and came at me and gave a large flap of its wings as it flew over the building but I felt the wind. Funnily enough you don't get owl's that big in UK.???

Around six years ago I was brought into paganism (I’m pretty eclectic now but it started off Norse) by a very dramatic encounter with Thor. Not too long after I discovered he didn’t actually want much to do with me, he was just the messenger. To this day, I’m not sure why he bothered instead of somebody else.

Welsh Folk Customs by Trefor M. Owen is a good read regarding the tradition of the Mari Lwyd or Magpie. There is a further tradition that spans a week long, and throughout the year. The whole of the custom and rituals tells an old story of the year and keeps the spirits of the land abided. This tradition can be seen in many Celtico-Albion cultures. Remains of it have been found that goes back 4,000 years. The Mari Lwyd or The Horse of Mary has less to do with Mary mother of Christ, but more to do with the Fea People and the King and Queen of the Land, Sea and Sky. The horse or oss itself being a spirit rider.

But for some time i feel like someone is pushing me years behind. Like my mental state is always 3 years ago but still not really because i can recall everything. What you think why that is?

I think there is a small intentional and knowledgeable group of horsemen and women who are making positive inroads to change the general situation between horses and humans, but they don’t have the public awareness that the sportsmen and women do. The ones who are making a difference are the quiet, unassuming masters, who deliver knowledge by word of mouth and small practice. These people are humble about their own accomplishments but joyful in celebrating the accomplishments of their students. They put the needs of their equine partners first. Their partners receive freedom for movement and expression, freedom to have forage, friendship and community in herds, and trust and confidence from clear communication with their human partners. I’ve found this personally in the communities of classical dressage and vaquero horsemanship, and I’m seeing it happen in working equitation. It’s exciting to witness and be a part of. Another chapter of these training and partnership philosophies is rising in the North American Horse Society, spearheaded by Bob Woods.

Yeah, there are a lot of people worldwide who are trying to make things better for horses. Some good changes, but much of it is just tinkering around the edges. Fundamental change is needed. Do we really need to ride horses any more? Do we really even need to keep them as pets? Could we scale back/phase out domestic horse-breeding over the next century? To a lot of people that sounds like both a cultural and existential threat. I get that. But what is fair to horses? They never signed up for this.

This whole year I’ve been feeling a pull towards spirituality and religion. Ever since I grew up from childhood, I’ve had no need or felt an absence of religion. As a kid I grew up in the outdoors, even raised by them. I spent my time at the beach and the river and the lake and convincing (?) myself I could talk to literal fairies. The older I grew the more the world took me away from the outdoors, and, by extension my awe and curiosity and sense of connectedness/purpose. When I was in my early teenage years, I discovered I was queer, pushing me farther and farther away from religion because of the judgement and crucifixation pinned on me as a queer person by the Christian church. I even grew to hate ALL religion, christian or other, seeing religious people as blind woo-woos. This last year though, I’ve been reconnecting to the land of my childhood and nature itself. It has brought me the most happiness and feeling of belonging I’ve had since I was a young child. Through the year, I’ve felt more and more called towards the spirituality of nature. Recently, a series of unfortunate events have happened in my life, most recently a close 18 year old cousin of mine got into an accident, and something peirced straight through his leg, leaving him in life threatening circumstances when the injury turned infected and he went into sepsis. I remember that night, staying up and praying for the first time to god, any god, even a christian god, that somehow, somehow, that he would be alright. In the morning, I woke up to find that the signs of sepsis were actually a small stick of wood behind his knee cap the doctors hadn’t noticed. He made a full recovery in 3 months. Whenever I’m in nature I don’t feel alone. Recently, after a conversation with my father about an pagan ex-girlfriend of his, I decided to look into paganism. Learning the concepts of paganism has felt less like an ‘discovering’ and more like coming home to an experience I had already known, but had been taught to forget and ignore. I think there may be diety/or purpose calling to me. (which feels weird to say as a born, raised and chociefully atheist person) I suspect its connected to the earth. I’m thinking Gaia or Jörd. It doesn’t feel like a personification of the land, but more like the land itself. Maybe it’s neither Gaia or Jörd, maybe it’s not even a “god” in a human-like/strict sense of the word, but I’m excited to see where this path is pulling me. I’ve been looking particularly towards my ancestor’s pagan beliefs (I’m mostly Irish and Norse, My family immigrated to america only about 3-4 immigrations ago. My grandparents’ grandparents. So I know a lot about who the immigrants in my family are) But so far, I feel the most connection with Gaia.
