@@wendyazubuike That whole black thing is an American thing. No one says I'm white they usually say I come from this country and end of discussion but somehow in the US it all becomes a he's just black no I'm more than that I come from another country. Also calling someone black is very offensive it puts everyone in one box which makes no sense when there are more African countries then European countries. Meaning Africans are more diverse than Europeans.

@wendyazubuike 14 күн бұрын
Majority of the undergraduate programs are taught in German. However, there are also a good number of programs and institutions that offer courses in English. All you need to do is to research. I‘ll recommend you use this website to search for English taught programs in German - www.daad.de/en/studying-in-germany/universities/

The fact that people stare at you has almost nothing to do with you being Black. In Germany, staring is common among everyone. It's often a mix of curiosity and interest, rarely judgmental. It's just a cultural thing.

It’s very important to check the requirements of the program/university(ies) you’re applying to.

The confusion about the rooms is only because some cultures call every room additional to the living room "bedroom". When we say "I live in a 3-room-apartment" we mean the apartment has 3 rooms (besides kitchen and bathroom). The purpose of these rooms is totally open. They might be a living room, a study, a bedroom. Or a living room, a dining room, a bedroom. An American would say "a two bedroom apartment" - which means all rooms which are not living room are called bedrooms. (And this is not logical.)

Of course you can, there are student jobs and Minijobs that you can do as a student. You should also put this into consideration when searching for universities to apply to. There are more student jobs in bigger cities than in smaller cities. I always suggest big cities such as Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and cities in North Rhine-Westphalia state. You’ll have a better chance of getting good student job opportunities and lots of English-speaking jobs too.

Yes, you do…sadly. However, this depends fully on the program and university you’re applying to. A couple of universities require that you present a document from your previous university stating that the medium of instruction during your study period was English - this is pretty much easy to get. While some other programs and universities may require that you submit IELTS. It’s important to check the requirements of the university you’re applying to.
