What do you think of PSGAG & HA given as suppositories

What if your horse has no symptoms? My horse cannot shake his summer sores. Ive tried 5 vets and two of them has seen him twice. Still has summer sores.

My horse has Cushings and has chronic sinusitis from a tooth abscess. Tooth has been pulled but infection remains. Antibiotics and lavage not working after several weeks. Any other suggestions?

Very informative! The chewing or grinding of teeth is something I noticed in my mare along with colic signs like biting her sides. I took her in to be scoped and she had actively bleeding ulcers. This is the calmest most sane horse in our barn and one we would never associate with being upset. This video has been very helpful. She’s currently at the vet hospital receiving three of the meds you mentioned. They also want me to start using Purina Outlast in addition to more grazing and more frequent meals. She’s had a biopsy, just in case.

Good video but it’s sad you didn’t mention any therapies other than corporate created drugs. Cold laser therapy? Message? Lifestyle and diet choices that don’t encourage inflammation in the body? Considerate training practices? Tell me you don’t feel amazing after a deep tissue massage?

Thanks for this valuable information Dr Matt. My POA is 29 and just diagnosed with Cushings. Next step is to discuss his treatment with the vet. His clinical signs are minimal at this time. Should a pony his age even be treated? Will the treatment potentially improve his quality of life?

Could you do a video on how to treat and manage hoof Injuries whether just bruised or where there is pus inside (opened up by the vet or farrier) and talk about how these should be cleaned/ managed/poulticed etc please?

I have a two year old QH that just had rads done in her hock. We’re at the point that we’re bone on bone. She gave me a few options. I-rap-prp-or surgical. We’re planning on turning her out for a year anyhow. Do you recommend doing any of these treatments before turning her out? Thoughts on the options she gave? Thanks for doing what you do!

Hello, thank you for the information on Cushings. At the rescue ranch where I am a volunteer we have a senior horse that has Cushings and is on medication for it. My question is since the horse has very long hair (we are in Arizona) is it okay to buzz the hair off? We soon will be in triple digits temps and we would like to help keep the horse cool.

Hi. Thanks for a very informative video. Can you elaborate a bit about how the cribbing makes it worse? Im not sure i understand the longer duration on a emty stomach? I have 2 geldings who crib bites (bought fro the age of 5 well knowing they where cribbing). One has been treated twice this year for stomache ulcers (prooven by scope), and I have now asked my vet for an excamination/ultra sound scan of colon and abdonimal, since last treatment didnt make him better and I find his symptoms pointing towards a hindgut desease. But i do find a lot of different oppinions on whether or not to prevent the horse from cribbing. I know his was restricted cribbing at previously owner. Could it increase his level of stress? So sad that people lie about their horses. Just bought a great pony for my daughter (so I thought) guess what Cushing disease. My vet suggested Prascend. I believe it will work from research on the internet.

Like you said giving good supplements to horses is true, like us taking good vitamins.

What are your thoughts on shockwave therapy? Also once the hock fuses is the horse feeling less pain? Do they have the same amount of mobility?

You mentioned cushioned horses losing weight or hard to keep weight on. I have a horse that has classic signs of Cushings but has no problem keeping weight on. I’ve also had ponies over the years that had cushings and they were always heavier. Is this common?

I know you cannot give specific medical advice, but I have a question. Can a horse with moderate hock arthritis be ridden gently? Trail riding at the walk and bits of trot? I ride an older belgian mare who becomes a bit symptomatic in the colder months. She loves to go out walking but becomes a bit stiff and limpy after too much trot. I believe she will be started on adequine soon by her owner.
