I had the good fortune to be taken out cod jigging in the Strait of belle isle, off Quebec's lower north shore, in 1982 by an old guy named Jack Roberts. He had an open wooden boat with a single cylinder engine (make-and-break, I think they're called) and only a heavy box compass at his feet for navigation. We left early in the morning in heavy fog and within an hour we stopped and dropped lines in the water. We caught 93 cod in just a few hours and headed back. He processed the catch and salted them on the floor of the little fish shack on the staging (wooded-stick-dock) that protruded out from the rocky shore. It's a memory I hold dear. Jack is long gone now but I'm grateful to have had this experience with him. It was like a trip back in time to the old days. Take care Kirk. All the best!

Really nice job and good progress! The location is amazing! All you need now is an ATV trail down to the cabin so you don't have to pack everything down the beach. Keep up the fantastic work!

Looking forward to another great build my friend. Its not going to move when those spikes get hold. My buddy and I built a log cabin years ago and we used some telephone ground rods cut off and sharpened for some of the big logs. Take it easy my friend, God bless.

Lookin' really good and built like a tank! All those swings of the hammer....no air tools out there makes this all the more difficult to do. Great job so far and a lovely spot!

People will not believe what the winter weather is going to do to that place ,, The trees and stunted shrubs tell the story ,, See those all metal buildings across the bay ? ,,, I lived all along the west coast of Vancouver Island , from the mouth of the San Juan to Port Hardy and Quatsino

@@kirknorthof5128 If they are going to be wood, I would build sliders , easiest to seal , simpler to build. The exterior I would use polyurethane paint over a high quality primer. One cannot go cheap here. But the thermo units prebuilt for the frames. Shutters for the winter storms ?? If it was me I would buy the windows as prebuilt plastic units ,, More important is the exterior cladding, and weather proofing.

Great video my buddy reminds me of when I was a young fellow growing up in Gaultois and I use to lobster fish with my Grandfather. We did most of it in our 14 foot row dory, probably used the bigger boat when we put them out to start the season or in the end but majority was in the dory. Then he'd wait for me to finish school before he hauled them each day. Good memories.
