Looks to me like a safety rotor design. I think Mercedes uses its own rotors. For a rotor is much better to crack like that, leaving the wheel still spinning, because the car will move, and a save braking may be performed by pushing the pedal softly. But if the rotor cracks by the side; pads will lock the wheel when braking, driver will lose control, and probably car will crash.

great video - planning to do this myself. any advice you can share? did you have to move the steering rack to get at the top bolts? or lower the sub assemblie for the suspension? I can't quite tell, but did you remove the wheel well trim on the driver side to get this kind of access to remove the mount?

Yes the pump failed, seems to be a regular occurrence these days.
