I love Stanislaus National Forest! Im more in the sequoia National Forest 395 side so I don’t get up there too much. Good to see someone else doing overland and radio. Man I hate it when it’s a struggle to get the contacts. I just was in Idaho and every park I hit I was able to active in under 30 minutes. I think California is kinda tough.

Yeah I live in the Sacramento area, so I hit it from the west haha. I love the 120 area, but explore a few of the other parts. Heck, I got married off Hwy 4! Haha. It depends for me, I have had some camptrips that I activate super quick, others a struggle. Who knows haha. I'm sure the mountains don't help. Thanks for watching!

I wouldn't worry too much about what people on the internet say, or people in general. Remember, the average IQ in the United States is 98. Most people are average, even if they refuse to accept it. There is a good reason that democracy doesnt work also.

I just harvested my first batch out of my ziss incubator last night, and I was trying to filter them through my sieves that I got on Amazon. I was only able to get about 1/4-1/3 of the shrimp to go through the pre filter sieve. I wasn't sure if most of the shrimp just got too big to go through or if I was doing it wrong. Luckily not too many egg shells came out of the hatchery with the shrimp. I had the temp around 76° and I harvested them after about 24 hours. I was wondering if I should've turned my heater up to 82° so that they hatch quicker and don't grow so big next time, or if I should get a different set of brine shrimp strainers. I understand from reviews of the strainers that I wasn't the only one with that problem. After watching this video it makes sense that a lot of my brine shrimp grew too big to go through the net.

I made the spawning mop, but my yarn doesn’t sink. Its 100% acrylic. I even added a plant weight and the mop reversed itself with the yarn standing up like vallisneria 😂 Any suggestions to get it to sink? 😂

I need that quick setup - got thwarted last weekend without any trees to throw up a wire and didn't want to do a coil on the ground with radials - THAT setup looks like exactly what I need! Is that Chameleon Antenna SS17 kind of like hamsticks or better because it's adjustable? (I'm kind of new at all of this HF stuff - drove right into the deep-end with part activations as soon as I got my general a few months ago)
@DilettanteCultureАй бұрын
Haha I usually use a 41' wire with a 9:1, not everywhere around here is friendly to that! Similar to ham sticks, but I would argue this performs better than a 20m ham stick as it is much larger (I love my ham sticks). It also isn't nearly as narrow banded as a ham stick (my ham sticks are tuned for FT8). It is adjustable, and can work 6m-20m on a single antenna, lots do, I haven't tried it personally, but have physically watched people do it!
@dustyroaddestinationsАй бұрын
@@DilettanteCulture oh I’ll have to look into that then! When I have the space I’ve been using a 63’ 49:1 efhw and that works really good.
@dustyroaddestinationsАй бұрын
Just ordered some hamsticks I should've added that to the order - will have to put it on the list (the SS17).
@DilettanteCultureАй бұрын
Yeah! It's not officially advertised (I don't think) but a lot of people take a sharpie and sit there and find out what height the antenna needs to be to be on what band, and then mark it. I'm just lazy and don't want to do that, even with my Nano VNA 😂.

Did you have internet connection to your laptop? And if you did. How did you do it? Hotspot?
@DilettanteCultureАй бұрын
Yes I did! Nothing I use needs a Internet connection technically, but spotting on Pota does. I didn't have it on at first, but decided to spot myself so I turned it on. I have hotspot service through my mobile provider (Verizon) and then turned it on on my phone (Galaxy S21 Ultra) and then connected to it.

A little bit not to the degree we were having. We have used that solar trailer the past few years, and when we were out on some property it was dead quiet. We saw a huge spike in noise when the plant turned whatever machine on, and it would drop significantly when it turned off. But, it was a convenient location! Haha
