Been up there. Very cool. It's easy to get down the rocks when it starts to rain.

I honestly don't recall other than I was just exploring the Red and investigating all the side trails I found... eventually I stumbled across this campsite but to be honest, there are many just like this all over the Red River Gorge

Great video. All three. I'm going to do this hike nearly exactly like you did it, but clockwise. I think it will be 4 days with the hardest hike going over Washakie pass the 1st day. Any good places to camp around Clear Lake or Deep Lake? I'm thinking from the video it would be ok to camp on the rock if you don't need to stake down. Or maybe tie some extra lines to a few rocks.

That trail that goes beyond South Zapata Lake is for 14er hikers! Keep climbing that trail and you can summit Ellingwood Point then do the traverse to Blanca Peak. Hoping to do just that in a couple weeks.

Looked like you had a great time with your family. I was fortunate enough to backpacking in the Winds in 2015 as my first backpacking trip. We camped at Big Sandy Lake and day hiked to the Cirque. I’d love to do it again one day.

My family has several favorite camping sites in the area; you camped in one of them! We call that spot "the dip by the creek", lol. We usually setup a lantern by the old wire fence gate. I always enjoy knowing where I've trecked, and in that vein - that little hike you did, around the "Elephant Toes" area, took you across BLM, State of Utah Land, wilderness Study Area Land, and National Park Service Land (Dinosaur Monument). Its a small, partial, checkerboard section that you trecked through :-) cheers!
