Great! Good luck man, it seemed like an easy job if u have basic skills. My buddy Gabe did it pretty fast. The only hick up we had was needing the spacers at the end because of the aftermarket wheels. Let me know how u make out, if u get stuck w anything I can ask Gabe for info to help.

I dont understand why the original gone in 60 seconds movie with the 351 cleveland (a legend in its own right) powered 1971 mach 1 mustang is never mentioned, a pretty good old classic movie that exemplifies ford power style and durability.😉

Hey, it is the internet man, chill. To be honest, having owned dozens of NA mustangs of all generations, the 2012 Boss302 is my favorite one so far. Again, non-supercharged, I am not a big fan of blowers and going fast in a straight line. I prefer to enjoy the exhaust and gears on a country road with some turns. This car is more than capable in that regard. I don’t need 800 HP for that. To each his own.

The 5.0 HO V-8 (225 HO) was the only engine available for the SSP Mustangs. Transmission was manual or automatic. SSPs got different coolant hoses, 15 inch wheel (as opposed to 16s in 91-93s). Suspension was the same. Alternators were heavy duty and front bucket seats were beefed up. The main benefit to the SSPs was that they were lighter weight LX notch backs they had slightly stiffer construction over a hatch. When sold off, probably didn’t go for an arm and a leg due to being old police cars. Not saying they weren’t fun, but needed a bigger radiator (as did all the 5.0s) in warmer climates as 120-130+ would see them over heat. I drove a 92 SSP with an automatic for a while. It’s wasn’t as fast as the identical colored 92 LX 5.0 5 speed that was my personal car - I miss them both.

I grew up w fox stangs and Saleens. But, this 2012 Boss is by far the most fun car I have ever driven. I love it. My son has the 2012 Saleen and it is nice, but the Boss blows it away. Of course the Saleen is not Supercharged, but still the Boss is just a special car and I still have not even tried the Red Key.

@@TripleThreatMustang Sweet :-) If you don't have a red key (bought mine in 17 with 1800kms on it, and didn't have red key programmed or with car), ford upgraded in around 2016 their computers and no longer could download red key program like originally offered. In 18 or 19 Ford Performance Racing division offered the program again, in a little different fashion. You buy it from Ford, and they install it for you. Cost me around $1000.00 Canadian, and love it. Pull orifice plates in quad pipes beside rear tires. Amazing sound with red key, especially on deceleration :-) Cheers Boss neighbor :-)

@@TripleThreatMustang This is the “ track pack “ option on 10/11 cars ? I think, Ford was using their OEM 19x8.5 wheel with no clearance problems with the “ big brake “ setup. Where were you running into 5mm clearance problems with these GT500 replicas ? Are the AM 500 wheels true to the OEM Shelby wheels ?

I really like the white with blue accents of the early Saleen Mustang. I could not afford one back then and bought a GT instead. To this day though, I still have a soft spot in my heart for a Saleen. My understanding is the non-SSC Saleen was slower than the GT/LX in 0-60 as it had a lower rear gear which required an upshift to 3rd gear before 60 MPH was reached.

I go back and forth between the white w blue and the black w grey as my all time favorite, but it is definitely the 87-88 Saleen 3 stripe version on both that I love. In 89 they changed to the 9 stripes which I don’t like as much. Yeah, back then Saleen was not as much into speed or horsepower but more about handling and styling. They are amazing cars to drive and to this day they look awesome. I had an 88 when I was a kid, I wish I had it today, it would be worth a fortune!
