True..there were quite more than expected. Likely that with the handover to the City of Los Angeles, the organizers leaned on that connection. Plus, the US audience is probably the most important financially for the Olympic Committee (through the NBC Universal deal: olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-awards-olympic-games-broadcast-rights-to-nbcuniversal-through-to-2032), so US celebrities are more well known and attractive to US audiences who will tune into the watch names they know.
