This was very interesting. Maybe you can help. I have recently bought a tsdz2b with the osf firmware. Now after a few km the motor is running free. Spinning or slipping. Is de assemblee it and i have wih instead of a blue gear. Now my question is should the with gear have a kind of freewheel? There is not Any movement in the left or right direction.

I have replaced two controllers on mine due to abuse and experimentation and thought I knew my way around the TSDZ2, but I must thank you for showing me how to get that motor unit out! I was losing my mind pulling on it and trying to devise some sort of puller contraption until I saw reason and looked it up and watched your video. Im just now getting into OSF and want to upgrade the VLCD5 and will be watching your other videos.

Some basic biomechanics:- As the velocity of muscle contraction increaces the amount of force that can be applied to the pedals diminishes. It occurrs to me that since the Tongsheng motor utilises a torque sensor the amount of motor assist supplied at high cadences may be less than expected. In order to get the maximum amount of assistance from your motor I suggest that you should pedal hard at a much lower cadence, (a high speed gear ratio). Power is the product of both force and velocity so if you wish to maximise muscular imput you need to pedal at the optimum combination of force and velocity. If I recall correctly sources on Cycling biomechanics state that this is at about a cadence of 60 RPM. (Just observe the cadence that professional cyclists on the Tour de France usually pedal at), If you want the maximum combination of muscular and motor power then you will need to experiment!
@jbalatutube Жыл бұрын
The opensource firmware fixes all that, it produces power as a combination of torque at low speed and cadence at high speed. Just use power mode with boost and enable high cadence mode. If you pedal really quick the power increases near then end. Its amazing

I have the Gen 1 Bosch 50 Nm and stock firmware TSDZ2, the Bosch is more powerful and runs cool all the time, the TSDZ2 gets very hot. The rating of 80 Nm out of the box is and absolute lie, it's more like 40 Nm. The only issue with the bosch is the 27/28 Km/hr cut off, so on level ground the TSDZ2 is faster but where I need it the most the TSDZ2 can't deliver the goods. I can't imagine the open firmware will gain 30-40 Nm ?

I used the old front hub to block the engine (I dismantled it so that it was just the clamp and the protruding pin) in addition, 2 aluminum flat bars and I hooked it all to the plate that fits between the support and the clamping ring/nut. Unfortunately, you didn't install this sheet at all :)

Open sidebar Upgrade Tongsheng Motor Firmware User How do i upgrade the software of the tongsheng motor to the open source one ChatGPT To upgrade the software of a Tongsheng motor to an open-source one, you'll typically need to follow a few steps. Please note that the specific process may vary depending on the model and version of the Tongsheng motor, as well as the open-source software you intend to use. However, I can provide you with a general guideline to help you get started: Research open-source firmware: Identify and select the open-source firmware that is compatible with your Tongsheng motor. The most popular open-source firmware for Tongsheng motors is generally known as "TSDZ2 OpenSource Firmware." Obtain the necessary tools: To upgrade the firmware, you'll need a few tools, including a programming cable or adapter, a compatible programming software, and a computer. Connect the motor to your computer: Use the programming cable or adapter to establish a connection between your Tongsheng motor and the computer. Ensure that the connection is secure. Download and install the programming software: Visit the website or community forum associated with the open-source firmware you've chosen. Look for the software and download it to your computer. Follow the instructions provided to install the programming software. Prepare the firmware files: Once you have the programming software installed, download the appropriate firmware files for your Tongsheng motor model and version. Ensure that you are using the correct firmware version to avoid compatibility issues. Flash the new firmware: Open the programming software and follow its instructions to flash the new firmware onto your Tongsheng motor. This process typically involves selecting the firmware files, configuring any relevant settings, and initiating the flashing process. Be patient and let the software complete the flashing process without interruption. Verify the firmware upgrade: After the firmware has been successfully flashed, disconnect your Tongsheng motor from the computer. Reconnect it to your e-bike and test the functionality. Ensure that all the features and settings are working as expected. It's worth noting that firmware upgrades can carry risks, and improper installation or incompatible firmware can potentially damage your motor or void any warranty. It's essential to thoroughly research and understand the specific requirements and recommendations provided by the open-source firmware community or developers before proceeding. Additionally, consider joining online forums or communities dedicated to Tongsheng motor modifications. There, you can find detailed tutorials, user experiences, and guidance from fellow e-bike enthusiasts who have already gone through the process. Always exercise caution and proceed at your own risk when attempting any firmware modifications. Send a message... Free Research Preview. My problem is intermittent it just started to happen it is now unridable I can hear the motor spinning but there is no drive. Supplier wanted a video. I did setup walk mode. Put front wheel against bench applied the throttle and can hear the motor spinning. It then suddenly engages with a bang. It is only 4 months old and is fitted with the brass gear. It has been to the supplier and they diagnosed a motor controller blaming my instalation causing excess load on something in the motor I paid for a replacement controller. The Motor was returned bench tested! but it still has the same problem. They are contacting the factory with my video. I think it is one of the one way bearings there has been no pedal slipping under load.

Can I put gear TSDZ2 in TSDZ2B?
@pjrob1957 Жыл бұрын
Yep, I've got a bafang and a tongsheng. I call the bafang the socialist motor. You just pretend to work for what you get. The tongsheng, on the other hand, you have to actually work for. The tongsheng is alot safer than the bafang too. There's no sudden jumping into life just because you moved the pedals a bit.

Thank you for sharing this video! Sometimes the crankset of my TSDZ2 goes completely free (as if there was no chain in a non assited bicycle). It started doing it about a year ago, only randomly, early in the morning, when I am starting using the bike. Now it does it more often, but it doesn't do it when I am going up hill or put a lot of pressure on the pedals. It does it only randomly on the flat, when there's little pressure on the pedal. To be able to get traction on the cranckset again, I must stop pedaling, make half turn backways, and start pedaling again with some good pressure. Note that when the crankset goes completely free, it doesn't matter if I turn off the the battery. It will do it even if I don't go electrical assisted. Do you think is the sprag clutch, or the torque sensor? Or something else?.... Thank you!! 🙂 Luca
@DaveSands Жыл бұрын
I'm getting the same as you describe. Did you find out what it was?
@italianphotographer Жыл бұрын
In my case the problem was caused by the sprag clutch (which is basically a bearing that goes free only in one direction). I replaced it with a new one that I bought on Amazon for about 20 Dollars (part number CSK30P). The new bearing was fitting a bit loose and therefore was slippery. So it was practically impossible to get any traction when you cranked the pedal. I took it off and made some incisions on the outer part of the bearing (using an hummer and a chisel). The incisions created little metal dents that are avoiding the bearing to slip. The crank works fine now! It’s possible that by making the same incisions to the old bearing I would have solved the problem even without buying a new one!.. 😊 (It’s pretty easy to install it anyway)

I've done 1,400km with no probs over several months with my first TSDZ2 conversion, careful not to overheat or overstrain the motor, but my second, with a TSDZ2B, has started making a scronking noise unless I baby it along in granny gear. It's like a tooth jumping, sporadically jerking under load. Is this likely to be the nylon gear losing teeth?
@colinmccormack1728 Жыл бұрын
This may be completely obvious to some but I would add a step 0: Remove the battery.
@randywagner6917 Жыл бұрын
Yes! Even with the controller display turning the motor off, there is still voltage on the motor wiring if the battery is connected. A screw dropped into the electronics could short out and damage the electronics. The yellow, green, and blue wires might possibly be "live" and could short together also.

Sorry I use the KTLCD3 and that is what I recommend. You can watch my videos on how to flash the motor and that will give you some idea of what is going on but with the vlcd5 you download a Java app and make your settings then just press flash. It is very easy. Only the motor is flashed. Which bit are you stuck on ?

Great video, two memos: 1. This is just one part of a service, for a complete service the other side and the axle also need to be serviced (and bearings checked!) For example the main clutch is rather weak-ish so could cause issues as well. Which sits on the other service-side. 2. While at it just replice those bearings... You'll thank yourself later ;-) (and be sure to get good quality japanese bearings)
