Offer a clean, simple, safe, place to stay , some food, a shower and a JOB....i am homeless, the care kit and such makes the givers feel good but really don't change a thing..I asked many churches for just three hundred dollars to register, insure for one month, and gas so i could take an upcoming job, was going to pay them back, turned down every time. Had to sell vehicle cheap to avoid a ticket for no plates or insurance. Walked away with just a small pack and on the streets now, am working again and now have the money to late for vehicle plates etc. lost rig and needed tools. Starting over, care packages, soup kitchens are great, but they DO NOT END HOMELESS SITUATIONS . If it makes you feel good by giving care packages great, but the majority of homeless people don't really care one way or another. They will tell you THANYOU and be ever so grateful, but once you leave they know in their hearts that it doesn't change a thing....................I KNOW I AM HOMELESS.......

Love the care kit but if you have 5 or 10 dollars to spare so they can catch a bus to change to safer environments

Sadly millions of dollars latter & the city didn't show any care for them STILL nor through the day care places out there & hoarded how the money??? unto what? for the showing proof isn't here & what now really good will be that $68million? The homeless aren't the ones reaping it's benefits & yrs. latter & millions of dollars for them in the past hasn't changed for the good of them..And it won't now... Who really got all that money 🤑💰 in the past & will now???

Great video except for the "money isn't a great option" to help the unhoused. Also, don't agree with the lack of hand sanitizer or mouthwash.
@lqa772 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Not everyone uses money for "drugs and alcohol". I've panhandled before just because I was desperate for a hot meal where I got to choose what I wanted to eat. Of course we were always grateful for the snacks and water bottles but cash can be necessary to get those little items u can't get on food stamps. Plus u can get mouthwash & hand sanitizer in non alcoholic varieties if u are concerned about not tempting someone in recovery ♥️
@bobalooloo028 ай бұрын
I believe the idea is that just like an alcoholic will drink ANYthing with alcohol a drug addict will use ANY amount to buy more drugs. If you watch the video they suggest gift cards and hand wipes which serve the same intentions as cash and hand sanitizer

This is wonderful and thank you so much for the ideas and what not to give a homeless person. I try to give to the homeless all the time and I am making care bags so you have helped me tremendously. I will most certainly do that and hand them out monthly. God bless you.

Me too. I am trying to help a few I see everyday. But I am in EVERETT.. I was able to help one get off streets and gave him my old car... But then he was car jacked.. It's so desperate out there in the world.. I just hope to do God's work. When ever I can. .. Dear God., please protect the fragile and fallen..hold them to your heart. Give them kindness.and sustenance.

I think it's because some folks deal with addiction and they could abuse it? I could be wrong : /
@tinyfreckle3 жыл бұрын
@@Baby_m0thh yeah it's because some people deal with alcohol addiction and might try to drink it which is very harmful (that's why they can't have hand sanitizer in Pre-schools and day cares, in case the kids drink it)

Theres a mental disorder where people eat things like soap or tide. it's a severe one but addicts or those not in thier right mind can still eat it without the disorder. It can be very easy to lose ones mind w no basic needs met when you haven't slept eaten or are freezing and dehydrated.
@lqa772 жыл бұрын
Avoid the kinds with alcohol and then hand sanitizer is fine! They don't work quite as well but still as good as soap when u can't have access to running water 💙

Thank you for these suggestions. It is winter at the moment where I live (Adelaide, Australia) and I want to make a package for a homeless man I see around the city quite often. I have bought him hot drinks and some food, but I always wish I could do more. I have a lovely thick, thermal winter coat that I never wear and thought of making up a bag with the coat and adding some gloves and a woolly hat, but wasn't sure what else to include. Your video gave me some great ideas and I think I will add socks, water and some non-perishable foods too. Thanks for sharing these tips!
