The natural hair movement started because it was not socially acceptable for black women specifically to wear their natural hair. While there was a time where men permed, pressed, etc. their hair, it was a short-lived era. From the 90s onward it was 100% commonplace to see black men wearing natural cornrows, afros, twists, dreads, etc. Likewise, people wearing their natural type 3 curls were also commonplace. In fact, within black spaces type 3s were always lauded as having "good hair". Type 4 women were the ONLY odd ones out. With the exception of dreads, it was rare to see a black woman wearing natural hair (especially if it wasn't straightened in some way). It was all about wigs, tracks/sew-ins, etc. Essentially, black men and people with type 3 hair had no true natural hair fight or issue because society allowed them the freedom to be natural. So no natural hair "movement" would've been needed in the first place. But now everyone (black men, type 3s, and even other races with loose hair) feels the need to be included in the natural hair movement. As a result, the movement has totally lost its purpose, which was to give type 4 women the confidence and social acceptance regarding their hair that they deserve. The goal post has simply moved from society preferring black women with straight hair and weaves to preferring black women with type 3 curls. It's all really sad. Now, as far as hair type I'm exactly like you CG. As in you are literally my hair twin. We fall smack in the middle of curly and kinky. Some people will say we have "good hair" that's not quite black enough and others will scoff and say our hair isn't truly curly or "good hair". And yes we get questioned on our genetics a lot. Personally, I am a woman of Caribbean lineage (Jamaican) with a half Indian grandfather. So technically ppl are right in that I'm mixed with something, but the reality is most black people in the diaspora are (whether they know or not). I just happen to know that I am. But it's very annoying when people act as if it's weird or bizarre for me to have 4a/3c hair just because I have dark skin. Almost as if to say it doesn't belong on my head or something. So I get you there. Anyway, it's just sad how the movement lost its initial purpose smh.

Have you ever done a keratin smoothing treatment on your hair/ why not? I’ve heard some very desirable results and benefits for the hair. I recently cut off my 35” micro loc’s to end the endless interlocking process to maintain the new growth/ cylindrical appearance of the loc’s and relax and keratin treat the hair to achieve a much easier maintenance routine.

I relaxed and applied a keratin smoothing treatment on my own hair. I absolutely loved the results but I heard about the ease of having micro loc’s and changed to them! My loc’s grew down to my calf muscles and I cut them to my waist. Growing long hair was never an issue for me. Maintenance required for long natural hair as a male has been. Wearing loc’s was amazing but the 8 hours of interlocking every 3 months /daily maintenance as needed to keep them presentable became too much (300x 35”x1/8” diameter). I absolutely love my natural hair but long and smooth hair is much easier for me to maintain for myself with only a moments notice I can be out the door!😊👍🏾 Your channel and content is always great!🎉

You can Brother there’s nothing wrong with it. Whether you do it in 10 mins or overnight, you’ll still be fine: it still works perfectly. In fact, the longer you go, the greater the effect you accomplish if your hair is 4 c you benefit more from black ethnic hair, afro kinky grows through a spiral from the root. But takes 24 hours or more for products to absorb into the hair. You still benefit more from the res no harm to it just don't exceed more than 24 hours. Rinse out proceed with a leave-in conditioner and seal it with a light oil or serum. Anyway, I appreciate your tips and ideas for natural hair. 🙏

Hello 👋🏾 Dawan. Ur hair looks 👀wonderful as always. We all were born with natural hair it wasn’t until we got older n thought 💭 we wanted straight hair a.k.a. (Perm)or relaxer Some of us don’t even know what’s the difference between a Perm n a relaxer. The caucasian a.k.a. White People get Curly Perms n Black People get relaxers. Either way We have to do Maintenance to ur Hair or it will break off. I was a relaxer girl for over 40 years. In 2016 I went back to Natural Beautiful Hair. T4S. Where did you get ur stand up dryer from n does it dry ur whole entire head? ❤️👩🏽‍🦱👨🏾‍🦲👶🏽🫶🏾🫶🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Right on time. I have been on the fence 2 years. Picking up products here and there but got quite a stash of products actually adding up on coins. Time consuming it seems to be natural. Lot to consider

I’ve been natural more than 8 years spent thousands of dollars because I’m a product junkie, then you have new products coming out. I’m now to the point I’m just finding the products that work and stick with those. Natural hair is definitely more maintenance He’s on point with these tips

Loved your thorough video of these two products. I wanted to love the Camille Rose Curl Maker, but every time I use it my hair flakes. It’s an ingredient I can’t pinpoint, but it must be included in all of their styling products because ALL of her styling products make my hair flake. I absolutely love how the Camille Rose styled my curly hair, but because of the flaking I’ve been using the Uncle Funky’s Curl Maker.

Your hair came out nicely! If you don't want to cut the looser textured side, maybe try pinning it up at the root so it gives the illusion that it's even with the other side.

My top deep conditioners have to be from Miche, Shescentit, and curl origin. I’m going to be trying Bask & Bloom because all they’re also black owned and infuse all their ingredients with Ayurvedic herbs. I’m in still recovering from postpartum shedding but I’ve heard lovely reviews about them so I’ll definitely be trying their conditioner soon! Love your channel.

I use the makuka honey deep conditioner and I ❤️it. It does have rice protein as one of the ingredients, but it is more than half way down on the product ingredient list…..I will have to purchase the Miche deep conditioner. I hear all good things about that brand.

Your braids look nice! I just received my Miche Indulge deep conditioner. I can’t wait to try it. I used to love the Manuka and Mufura Oil deep conditioner. I was loc’d for years so I didn’t use deep conditioners. I’m rocking my natural curls again, so I may purchase that sheath moisture dc. Miche is first up though.
