A short, gentle comment to those who hated the show. I won't call you haters, for I am sure you have many kind and good qualities, and I won't reduce you to that one trait. Anyhow. I think there are three issues: First, you compare RoP to one THE greatest masterpieces of cinema, Peter Jackson's LotR; and that is unproductive. It's like measuring a normal good painter with great masters like Caravaggio or Michelangelo. Everything will pale compared to such rare one-time titans. Second, I have the impression you may just overthink things, like let the fantasy give its space. If you overly analyze films I am sure many masterpieces of the past would not seem so glorious. Even the books have lengthy parts and some weird logic. (Like if the Valar are so mighty and Iluvater destined all things before in the Song, why is evil even to blame? Why do people have to suffer under Sauron, when Valar and Maiar could have stopped him long before rising to power?) Third: you spend too much time on the internet. If you read something over and over like how bad it is, you can be lead to see the negative overmuch.

A song of poignancy and pathos on Galadriel's long arduous journey to defeat the evil of Sauron.
@plasmaarmelund23 күн бұрын
The actress who plays Galadriel is awful. No range, pouting all the time. A don't get me started on the romance between her and Sauron. WTF? Why of why are the changing the story and trying to pander to a "modern audience".

I keep hearing bits of Ravel's 'Pavane pour une infante défunte'. Otherwise, not here that's particularly memorable.

Rings of Power gave us the new concept of "hate-watching by proxy". Like most people, I've haven't seen an episode, but I never miss the hilarious reviews by Critical Drinker, Nerdrotic, Let's Review Cr@p etc. Looking forward to the next season.

You should watch it instead of listening to people whose entire KZbin career is based around hate bandwagons. The show is much better than any youtuber gives any credit towards.
@KevinD321Ай бұрын
@@IIBloodXLustII I'm a Tolkien fan in his sixties! I found the changes that Peter Jackson made egregious, and I didn't care much for the corny score (especially compared to Rosenman's score for the Bakshi film). I didn't mind The Hobbit so much, because I was less particular about the source material. Silmarillion is perhaps my favourite, so if I watched these shows, I'm sure I'd go bananas. Thanks for the recommendation, anyway.
@IIBloodXLustIIАй бұрын
@@KevinD321 that is entirely fair. The people who had no problem with the films but hate the show for lore reasons break my brain. I'll say that the portrayal of Sauron is so incredibly well done. The time period is heavily sped up, but the manipulative, self righteous, sociopath that he is portrayed as works incredibly well.
@nathanferrell8270Ай бұрын
@@KevinD321 The corny score? Wow, you've got a high bar for what you like in a film score, most people (including myself) find the score in the Peter Jackson trilogy to be one of the best film scores ever. Might I ask if there are any movie scores you do enjoy? I'm guessing you prefer very subtle music if you found Howard Shore's score to be corny.
@KevinD321Ай бұрын
@@nathanferrell8270 Howard Shore has done some great film music. His scores for The Fly, The Silence of the Lambs, Dead Ringers, and Philadelphia, to name just a few. For a movie adaptation of Lord of the Rings, it would have to be 'five star' to do justice to the source material. I'd call his score a strong 'three'.

Rings of Power SUCKS compared to THE THEE THY-LORD OF THE RINGS, THE HOBBIT MOVIES. music is good I guess facebook, and youtube don't listen to the people's.
@danw.1250Ай бұрын
The holy trilogy--the original Lord of the Rings--I'll give you. But the Hobbit movies were a mess except the first one. I'm not a huge fan of what they've done with RoP, but the music is topnotch.
