This shit is Jon's fault. In the end he had to go against Bolton either way, but alone, weak and outnumbered. It should've been Stannis and Jon and half of the north bannermen against that scoundrel in Winterfell.

2 things about this that really got to me: 1. Quite a few of those horsemen were the sellsword deserters who took the horses from Stannis 2. Maybe half of his army started fleeing (morale failure) as it was going to be a total rout Bad way to go...

Stannis and his army is alive, which includes: 3,500 northmen (Glovers, Mormonts and mountain clans 1,400 southron knights and men-at-arms 400 Umber green boys in the vanguard Total: about 5,300 men 456 Karstark men, disloyal, it is unknown whether or not they will fight for Stannis after Arnolf Karstark's treachery is discovered Roose Bolton had send : 2000 Frey men, including 500 knights 300 Manderly men, apparently 100/200 knights/men-at-arms Total: about 2300 men. Stannis army is sitting beside a frozen lake with a sort of watch tower. He is waiting and eager to lure Roose Boltons Vanguard to charge at his army who are mostly Footmen. During the charge the Manderly's will backstab the frey's and aid Stannis. It will be Stannis First Victory to WInterfell

Ramsay was not even a major character in the books but the showrunners for some reason felt so compelled to kill stannis off in the dumbest way possible while lifting up ramsay to be a new big bad

I dont man.....but it wouls have made much more sense to march the army to Deepwood Motte or to the Last Hearth and wait out the winter to gather more soldiers and supplies. Camping at a forested area and then marching with less than half the original force is something only Dick and Dong would do.

the way this battle was shown is just stupid. you're not telling me a very skilled commander like Stannis would just be surprised of a massive mounted army appearing 1 minute before combat. it would have been much more believable if they just said 90% of his army deserted and they prepared for some glorious last stand
@tomacino483 ай бұрын
At the end of the day, Stannis would have easily had the support of way more powerful people. For example. What would the Boltons have done against Godzilla? Omni Man? Straight up Goku? Yeah bet you never considered that.

the stormcrows (mercenary army) took all of the horses after stannis burnt his daughter. then half the men left. he basically lost 3500 men over a single night. he marched on winterfell with around 1200-1500 vs 5000.... most mounted, well fed. while his men were starving,tired and sick. stannis in the books was alot smarter/ formidable that show stannis.

regardless on how his ending will be when the winds of winter ever comes out, I don't think Stannis in the books or TV show would have attempted this with such numbers, like Rob he was a good strategist, he would have took kings landing, but didn't think the Lannisters and Tyrells would unite, and defeating the wildlings despite being outnumbered there, using a pincer move, I get it the show just wanted him gone for whatever reason, I liked Stannis too, the show ruined him near the end like others

I love the minor detail that from the aerial shot, you can see Stannis as a tiny dot, in the front of his army, with his most loyal soldiers rushing to his side, and at the back, half of his remaining army abandoning him and running for the trees.

Stannis didn't tremble before a large army, he accepted death and drew his sword. His men also got inspired and followed him. He leads from the front no matter the cause.

We all love the Mannis, but i have to give props to his men. Abandoned their lands and holdings in the south after a crushing defeat to fight wildlings, then ironborn, then cunty northerners and potentially (later on) reanimated corpses once the REAL war began- all on the word of a fire-demon worshiping witch and ironclad loyalty to the last Baratheon. Fucking legendary, these stormlanders.
