Dear Sir, I like your warning of being selective when deciding for a martiart. With over three decades of MA training behind, let me add tthree pieces of advices to your portfolio: -At first, look into the mirror and see your body structure. A lean and tall could prefer so called Northern styles of Kung Fupreferring legs, a shorter and often more mobile should following Southern styles oaf kFG preferring hands. -Then decide the soft or hard version even within the sam style. Even AIkido, considered a real peacuful sty has its stronger version based on it predecessors offrom Daito ryu -Finally follow a grade-based approach, beginners are to evade, intermediates being angular and only advanced are allowed to enter ino hard contacts. Best regards. Paul,69, retired instructor of Karate.

Low kicks hidden between boxing combinations(Dutch style kickboxing.Muay Mat style Muay Thai) are very effective in street fight. Add in elbows and knees on the clinch, you should be ready for most opposition outside of a well trained combatant or person using a weapon.

Boxing has only a few punches but there are multiple ways that those punches can be applied. Not just in combinations. Off of footwork, torso movements, defense, etc.

There's also Sanda, Kun Gek Do, Japanese kickboxing and Shoot Boxing. Japanese kickboxing focuses on boxing and low kicks like Dutch kickboxing, but no knees and clinch work. It seems to have some of the best boxers in kickboxing though. Sanda and Shoot Boxing mix boxing, traditional martial arts, throws, clinching and takedowns, as well as limited time on the ground. Sanda favours speed over power but aims for both. Shoot boxing has similar aspects to it, but is based in Kyokushin and Japanese kickboxing rather than kung fu and shuai jiao. Kudo Karate is also quite similar, except it's basically Kyokushin with all that stuff added and lots of judo instead of Shuai Jiao. Kun Gek Do is Korean Kickboxing and has similar MMA-lite rulesets, but with way more flashy TKD kicks. There's also American Kickboxing but I don't know why anyone would prefer that style. No low kicks, no throws, no sweeps, no takedowns, no limited time on the ground, subpar boxing, no knees, no elbows, no clinchwork, no grace no super fancy flashy TKD kicks. None of the things these other styles have. The worst of all worlds IMHO. Still decent for self defense though. Better than fighting invisible ninjas for 4-5 years while you earn a TKD black belt >_> Oh and there's Bang Muay Thai which is a mixture of Muay Thai and Dutch Kickboxing, with an emphasis on boxing. Probably the best out of all of them LOL Also Muay Mat (a boxing-centric style of Muay Thai) is similar to Bang Muay Thai and Dutch kickboxing in it's emphasis on punching and low kicks. Also, from what I can tell, the Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu is the Indian precursor to what would later develop into Muay Thai and also seems to have influenced the development of Kung Fu. So it's worth mentioning. Ledtrit is just Muay Thai based Thai combatives. Lethway is just Muay Thai + Headbutts.

If you had a child and wants him or her learn martial art. Don't put him or her into Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai or kind of Martial art without teaching proper punching techniques first. your child must learn basic fundamentals of Boxing first before Any martial Arts.

Kudo and Sanda are not MMA styles - they are competition formats of Daidojuku karate and Wushu, respectively. Also, Bruce Lee of course did not "invent" the idea of MMA, that's a stupid little story that gets perpetuated in MMA circles because it's a neat, marketable story. Many styles were already versatile in the sense that they included grappling and striking long before Bruce Lee was even born.

I believe Combat Sambo is the best kind of MMA for street self defense but it does lack advance striking so Sambists should cross train/blend in Filipino Martial Arts(especially in Pekiti Tirsia Kali), American Kenpo, & Wing Chun. Not to mention it needs to be more popularize so it be available to practice but I might have to go either Jeet Kune Do or MMA depending on the locations>

I believe MMA need to have 2 classes type of MMA like Street MMA that teaches how Street fights go. While Sport MMA is like how they fight in the octagonal cage. MMA fighters definitely needs to cross train/blend in Filipino Martial arts(especially Pekiti Tirsia Kali) for weapon training including unarmed hand to hand combat, Savate for it's kicks that seem practical, & retrace Jeet Kune Do's lethal techniques that MMA don't allowed in the cage!

@cameron-bp4jd
@cameron-bp4jd 4 ай бұрын
although i dont disagree with everything, this video is piss poor on a few topics, wrestling in my opinion is the best martial art if you could only use one how ever you said a wrestler vs mma fighter is eqaul or favorable to wrestlers if thats the case we'd have much more ground heavy champs, with an almost eqaul stat of 5 strikers and 6 wrestlers as champs, if you count jones, dricus, islam, and wheili as pure wrestlers even though their style is much more akind to mixed martial arts while between the 4 having more tkos or kos then sumbissions or grappling heavy decisions, on top of that you dont take modern weapons into account where being body to body with the person is a much higher risk then being sepperated, if you as a mma have the ability to dictate where the fight is and have better striking then you have an advantage (ex leon, sean, ilia), also our ancestors hardly wrestled as their main form of defense or offense opting for big sharp teeth and jaws, or primitive weapons, or even claws, not to disect your video just giving my opinions on it great video tho
