Many years ago I used to do this with cds I own. I bought a few cd and it won't let me play them without the cd being installed? If there now security changes that doesn't let this be possible?

Yes if you are trying to copy copyright material such as music then this is a possibility. You would need to use Ripping software to copy them to mp3 or Wav to do that.

@@mobilepcdoctorltd6319 this is the first cd that has ever done this to me and I've probably done a minimum of 70 cds because everyone knows heat destroys a cd faster than probably anything. So if it's copyrighted you probably can't even rip a copy of it. Or are you saying it is possible? Thanks for your time responding to my first message and if you will clarify this I would be grateful. Yeah it was only a $15 cd but I'm a cheap bastard, Dad says frugal lmmfao.

I sent the laptop back and got a refund. I think the fix is replacing the internal speakers but have it checked to see if it is.

At last!, A great tutorial WITHOUT all of the nonsense! I'm a new DJ, and need to put ALL of my CD tracks into a portable media, some 600 disks for easy use 'on the road'. You probably need to import from a CD using iTunes and save it as MP3.

Thank you for your constructive comment but how is this useless? These How To videos were not made for the general public but for the elderly customers I visited to help them remember something they would otherwise forget. That’s it, nothing more.

I always advise my customers to bin their paid security, use Windows Defender in Windows 10 instead plus also use the free Malwarebytes. You save money, your computer will run faster and less prone to run into problems and the paid for securities in my opinion are often bloatware.

Do you mind if I get you a little more traffic on this. As I've been searching for weeks on this issue and so many claim it's a faulty hdd/ssd/motherboard. I'd like to reference your videos about this and offer a link so others can verify their issue. And get a correct fix. I imagine you have resolved this by now in some way. I'm actually looking to modify the non-working cables if I can find a way (schematics).

I got some info that might help. Not at home currently, so the model # I found is at home. The main issue I think is it's AMD. But sata is data. And power should be power... As it's a standard... Did you ever sort this out?

I found a part # on HP parts site, where they sell genuine parts, and it's HP (I think). There is a bundle of wires they used to sell, the part # for that was 640422-001 . And the schematic I was able to find I just got (probably wrong) is HPMH-40GAB6300-D A search shows it up in alisaler or something. They actually provide a free download of it. Now to see if it's useful or just junk, aka another rabbit hole. lol

I have the EXACT non-working cable... The wiring is completely different... I've been beating my head against a brick wall fighting this for 6 months! lol I bought 4 different cables and they are all the same. I've removed all of the tape to reveal wiring, and it's very small, and each one seems different even... I could solder them up the correct way but mine is fubar and I cannot find schematics to resolve it...

I've got 2 on order, the first didn't work, & the one at a pc tech shop didn't either. I have two different dv6 models with the same issue. Bummer I don't work for hp or I'd get them schematics. Lol

@@stevenanderson9532 the trick is finding the one you think you don't need, cause that's probably the right one. And if you didn't buy it, again it's probably the one you needed as well.

I do feel like for some reason, it's either something to do with being an AMD or Intel, or it's something in the model number variants. Sadly a standardized plug is so non-standard. While the Sata end is probably correct, the other is some alien random crap lol...

Sadly not, some of my early videos (like this one) was only intended for my customers if they forgot what i showed them. I did a quick video from my phone.

I'm having the exact same problem. The seller even sent me a new cable for free, and it still doesn't work. I measured the pins on the cable with a multimeter and they are all connected, so it's not a broken cable or anything... Are they just wired differently? Or maybe slightly too wide so they don't make contact in the connectors? It's driving me mad.

Only solution that worked for me was when I bought a genuine cable rather than a copy. It wasn’t easy to find either but keep looking on eBay and ask the seller before you buy if it’s genuine original or copy. Regards.

Believe the amperage rating is the problem, because had issues using a 1tb usb drive going offline, while smaller drives worked fine. Just may use external usb perminently. As for hp making various cables, last hp I will mess with again, screwem. Believe hp 8570p has 2nd sata hd, besides the optical connector. To be safe just buy a 4$ usb3 to sata hd cable, be done with bs. You can get enclosures too. Been doing this since c64, actually worked for compaq who hp bought.

I'm currently having trouble getting a 64gb drive to work. It's not an amperage issue I'm having at least. You might just have a broke wire in yours.

I assume you're not still working on this but I'm having the same issue. I think it's related to the amp draw of the SSD. The harddrive that came with the laptop pulls 1A at 5V. I tested two SSDs that pulled 1.44A at 5V and they did not work. However, using an SSD that pulls only 1A at 5V is detected and seems to work. Edit: Windows won't install on it still. Gives an 0X80300024 error.

Thank you for your comment. That makes sense. I’ve recently had 2x Dell laptops that would not boot from an SSD hard drive after the initial Windows 10 preload from USB. Really frustrating as there’s no way to know in advance if an old laptop can be upgraded without doing the work first.

Might be copyright protected. If so you will need software to rip the disc instead.

@@DanielBrosman08211986 Usually you need additional software to ‘rip’ discs these days because of copyright protection on the discs preventing a simple copy/paste.

Hi Manny. If you’re using a Windows PC then you should be see menus appearing when you right click. Depending where you click depends which context menu appears. I would try another mouse after that I would check your mouse settings also.
